Looking to try a new car soap....

I had been using Meguiars Gold Class Car Shampoo in the big one gallon jugs from Target for $7.99, and I was pleased with it.

When I ran out of that, and couldn't find it anywhere, a local auto store had a 16oz bottle of 3M car soap, and I am pretty impressed. I noticed it has a neutral pH of 6, and I didn't see that listed anywhere on the Megiuars bottle.

Anyway, I ran out of the 3M soap, and am looking for a replacement. I am tempted to get a big gallon of the 3M soap (I don't remember the PN# off hand, but it's the professional series) as it cleaned very well and seems as if it didn't affect the wax.

Before I do this (I probably won't wash another car by hand for another month since it's so damn cold out!) I was looking for other soaps I should give a try.

Thanks!

Thanks for the link

No one in that thread has mentioned 3M at all.

Can anyone comment on this product?

The new NXT car wash soap is pretty good. Kit Carnauba Car Wash Soap is a real sleeper of a product. Amazingly good for $4.99 for a half gallon. Real sudsy too.

In the gallon size, you can try Mothers. Also, you can try Eagle One.

I haven't used either, but they are inexpensive and come from reputable car care companies.

I use Meguiars Gold Class on other cars and Meguiars #62 on my own.

I really like Sonax, but it comes only in 500ml bottles.

I agree with Spilchy regarding Megs Gold Class and Eagle One. Both products are inexpensive and available at Target, Walmart, Autozone, etc.

I've tried GC, #00, E1, #62, and Pinnacle. They're all really good. I prefer, in this order, #62, #00, Pinnacle, GC, E1, but that's like saying I prefer filet mignon, then prime rib, lobster, and last delmonico steak.

I use them based on how the color matches the way I feel that day.

Anthony,

Since you were pleased with the Meguiar's Car Shampoo it may just be worth a call into them to find out where else you can get their product.

Just a thought...

Gold Class Shampoo at $8.99/gallon at Traget is a great value. Since I'm switching to QEW, I don't use that volume of wash and go with smaller bottles.

Griot's Car Wash- Highest lubricity of anything I've tried and MUCH easier on wax than Pinnacle. $30/gallon plus shipping.

Nic-Sand has something they call a Car-Bar. It is a Glycerin based all natural bar of car wash soap they sell. Due to the fact that it is all natural it did not strip any of my wax. The shine it left after I dried was the best I have ever seen. The only problem is it is a special order from them. It was 7.99 but it also came with a nice sized wash mitt to use with the bar. I highley recommend it...

You may want to take a stab at Eimann Fabrik PowerWash+ as I find it to last a long time, have good lubricity and a pleasant smell.

I have also found it to work really well removing tar drops, tree sap and bug carcases (we get some good ones in Florida!!).

Even the most difficult tar stain comes off by putting a dab on the tar with my finger and letting it sit a few minutes. Then I just take my MF wash mitt with plenty of sudsy water and it generally comes off without much scrubbing.

Jimwh,

How is EFPW+ on wax and sealants?

Hoss,

Do you have more information or a weblink on the NicSand Car-Bar?

I have been using Gold Class with out a problem. I have several washes from Meguiars to try once the weather breaks.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - you guys in the USA don't know how lucky you are! $7.99 for a gallon of GC! That costs us UK Autopians over here £14.99 GBP - that's approx. $25 US. The next time I come over on Holiday to the US, I'm gonna make sure my hotel is next to a Target store! ;)

edschwab1 - It seems to work extremely well with my Klasse, but have no idea about how it is on wax...my car's never seen a coat of it! <grin>

Seriously, it's not so strong so that it would be a wax remover, but if you read the description at CMA's site, it says that it was designed for the car wash professional.

Great quality product, IMHO.
