Looking into PB, need advice

So I'm checking out the Poorboy's product line, and man, I'm LOST!

What products do I need and which one's do I NOT need?

My car is a darker blue, like royal blue. I don't have a machine of any kind (buffer, orbital, etc etc) so i'll be working by hand. I think i'm gonna avoid polish, as i don't really have swirls or scratches...

So what sealant's &/or waxes are better for an at-home do-it-yourselfer? Just from reading descriptions, I'm liking the Natty Blue liquid, and the Black Hole Glaze...
 
I would tell you that I have a dark car and black hole is a MUST. (It's also cheaper than a shrink)

I would stay away from any and all carnubas until after the winter. i would go with straight sealant. PB Ex is very very good. Swirl free Dark colored cars that reflect a optically correct, or more optically correct shine with a sealant than with a Carnuba wax. (get out the extinguisher..i am gong to get flamed) It (sealant) also lasts longer.

If you opt for any polishing, you will need a machine. I don't see how a car can be done by hand when polishing.

Here is my suggestion

Polish is not bad thing lets get the straight.

polish with sealant or carnauba is a real go to for me, very mild and really adds good POP to the paint

For your dark color the Black Hole would be excellent for a glaze, you can read about it using the search button

For a pure sealant I would get his EX-P its a good durable protection and adds a lot of shine

For something to top that off anyone of the Nattys paste waxes would be good


These are the items that I use on my detail customers

The cool part about PB line is it is very user friendly by hand or machine, easy to use and produce great results

Even better you can call and talk to Steve (I recommend that) when you place your order and he can help you with product selection
 
Okay... so i can layer glaze under sealant under wax? So black hole, under EX-P, under Natty's?

does it have to be a paste? or is liquid okay?
 
Yeah, I definitely need some of the Bug Squash for my daily driver... it's got a terrible splatter coating of tree sap.

How many layers of these products (glaze, sealant, wax) do most people average? or is it one application of each?

That depends on whether you ask a normal Joe or a member of the wax wasters club. I find 1 coat of each will work fine but have used several coats and that is fine too. Some of us have a mental imbalance and just can't stop waxing no matter how hard we try.

I'd go with at least 2 coats of sealant just to sure the entire car is protected. As for the wax I say wax until your heart or obsession is content.:passout:
 
how accurate is the advertisement that poorboys can be used in direct sunlight without any problem? Both sealant and waxes
 
well i sure hope so or all of the cars i have done over the summer were just a dream..


Yes it can be used in direct sunlight.. no problems what so ever

very accurate.. some where in here you will find a photo of a thermoter reading 129-130 with exp on the hood and it wiped off with NO (edited sept.17.2010) effort

This truck sat in direct sun light all day.. Nattys blue was applyed in direct sun light sat for over an hour and removed with no trouble at all.

Like most all PB products, a little goes a L O N G way.............

All I can say is that I've never had a problem with Poorboy's products in the sun & I'm in AZ where it's mighty toasty! :passout:

As said above that advertisement is 100% accurate. I first bought PB products because I worked outside 100% of the time and they have served me well for the past 2 years.

Okay, so i think i've decided on a group of products for my car :)

Wash bucket kit w/grit guard, slick & suds, wash mit, dry towel
Clay bar kit w/quick detail spray
black hole
EX-P
Liquid Natty blue
spray and gloss
various pads & towels

Also thinking about:
wheel sealant
QW+
Spray & rinse wheel cleaner
bold n bright
leather stuff
pro polish

kinda got out of hand shopping... i think my cart total was north of $400! so i decided to take a step back and really evaluate if i NEED all of this, or just some of it... but god i want it all!
