Very nice, but hard to find OTC.
 
Another vote for Mothers FX. I've used Armor All, Black Magic, Meguiars Gel, everything else you can think of... I will not using anything else anymore except FX. Here's a pic, not the best, but you get the idea:

If you have a car chemical truck like auto magic, or carkem, they have really good water base dressing, that you can buy in 5 gallons or gallons. you have to kinda experiment a little to get the dilution that you want, but once you have put it on a dry tire, let it set about 10 min, and whipe it off, and it will dry, and will NOT sling everywhere.
 
Threw in a bottle of Optimum Gel Tire Dressing with my last AutoGeek order. Used it for the first time tonight.

I contacted Eagle One and according to them their tire gel IS NOT water based and they offer no water based tire dressing at the current time.

I picked up a bottle of FX Tire Shine from Amazon.com six weeks ago and have tried it twice now on my tires. I am quite pleased with it. It has a touch more gloss than Reflections and also appears to be a little more durable (though I may be wrong about that). The gloss tones down after a couple of days of driving, as I suspect is true for all(?) water-based dressings, and takes on a deep, natural black that still catches the sunlight. My new Bridgestone tires have had a hard time holding on to any water-based dressing. FX has done better than all others I have tried (Reflections, Beyond Black, Tropi-Care White Pearl). I don't know why this is the case, and perhaps the tires are simply absorbing the dressing better after being driven for a couple of months; but I think FX has become my favorite dressing for my S2K.



And at $6 for a 24 oz. bottle, FX Tire Shine is a hard-to-beat value!

That's funny. I use it and have a bottle right in front of me. It lists three ingredients in this order,



1) Water

2) NJTS #254504001-5454 ( whatever that is)

3) Emulsifier



If this is not water based what is it? It doesn't have any of the warnings on the label that usually are on the solvent based products. It doesn't smell or feel like the solvent based products. I think you talked to an idiot customer rep or something. Wouldn't be the first time a rep has been totally wrong on a product.

I called Eagle One and asked for myself. Not only IS it water based it's practically all water. Don't take my word for it though. Read the ingredients on the bottle or better yet call this number 1-800-432-4531 and talk to a rep. He will pull up the data sheet and tell you the product is basically all water.



I don't doubt you were told by a rep it wasn't water based I'm saying the rep is wrong. These guys don't know the products in detail They look up the data sheets and read from them. I have called Megs for info before and received many different answers on the same product. Some of them contradictory so just saying.

I've used opti-bond, IZ vinyl + rubber, Sytem 1 black licorice, + others and this is by far my favorite.

Super easy to use, doesn't sling, goes on wet and dries to a nice semi-gloss shine.
 
I know that I am comming into this thread late, and I know that I will most likely get some people thinking I am nuts, but for an OTC Glossy Tire Dressing, you can't beat Lucas Oil Tire Dressing. This stuff is great if you like it shinny. If you get it on your wheels, don't worry, it works as a wheel detailer as well. It does not attract dust, and lasts through rain storms. Just spray it on, and wipe with a towel and you are set. Does not sling at all!!!

Just grabbed a bottle of this recently and really like it also.

I'm curious about the description on the bottle, though. There are a couple of misspellings and I can't be sure if they mean "rim" detailer or left off the "t" in "trim" detailer.

Makes more sense to me that it would also serve as a "trim" detailer. ?
