Long lasting protective wax for outdoor parked car?

lbls1- OK, I just have to get out of my usual mindset (eliminate marring or it can only look so-so no matter what you use). No way am I gonna go overboard with the abrasives on those cars (did that for too many years on the Jag as it is). I can polish them some but I'm gonna err on the side of caution- I'm not gonna be the guy who wore out the OE paint, I'd rather have them imperfect but original.

We're not entirely off the subject here...I'm gonna probably use Collinite in the out-of-the-way areas of those cars. Might try my sample of FK's High Temp wax in the engine compartment of the XJS, it sure gets hot enough to test its temperature resistance.

The M3 (when it's finally ready for waxing  ) is gonna get the 476S. IMO it'll look OK and then I can just drive it and wash it for a good long time.

Yes, if in doubt then resort to all non-abrasives. I even cut down on the abrasive formulas this year, as I judged my surfaces to have been good enough for just a regimen of non abrasive cleaners and an extremely mild polish.

I think you will have success. Post some results soon if you can. But.............once you've taken a walk on the wild side..........there's no going back...........hahahaha!! Try if you dare..........

Soon? :o I'll be happy if either the Jag or RX-7get waxed this *year*! Let's see, paint curing time...nope, the Jag won't get waxed until I'm prepping it for next year. We'll see on the RX-7, I'm doing it's undercarriage/engine compartment/etc. before I even start thinking about the paint. I can spend hours on one item in the engine compartment...

Eh...I never really *detail* them on my drivers, I just keep things clean in there and put a little something on the accessible body-color parts now and then. I hardly ever dress stuff or otherwise make a big job out of it.

The RX-7 is different, I kinda bought it just to play around with as a detailing/preservation project. Sorta like a showcar that I don't plan to actually show.

The Jag, well, with all the heat and oil leaks and complicated crap they packed in there, *that* engine compartment is a challenge- wish I'd started taking care of it 21 years ago :o Once I get things clean I want to use something easy to use that'll last a while, hence the Collinite or the FK High-Temp stuff.

But you gotta have something that will have "the shine" on it somewhere. I know what you mean about doing it on the daily drivers. One day though I suppose...
