Zaino...completely un-impressed. May be due to all the hype but...

I'm way happier with my SSR 2.5/ Clearkote combo...

What was it about the Zaino that disappointed you?

Was your prep for Zaino and Clearkote the same?

Some of the 4* lineup hasn't impressed me.

Have to show some positives:

On the other hand I liked Wolfgang Sealant and Natty's, and I'm looking forward to trying Autoglym and the new Zaino pro very much. Missing how someone could be completely un-impressed with Zaino but to each is own, some would probably say the same about me and 4*.

Before this gets into a Zaino debate, let's all try to be open minded here and respect everyone's opinions. This can be a healthy thread for everyone to read as long as it stays civil.

That being said, I really don't have a product that didn't produce what was claimed. I don't expect the world either, nor do I usually fall into the hype *traps*. If a product is discussed and positive results are found, complete with some good looking pics I will try it out and haven't been let down yet.

To add to Burlyq's positive tone, two products that exceeded my expectations were Poorboy's EX and EX-P. I am still amazed at how easy these products are to use and how nice of a finish they produce.

NXT

lived up to the looks, but i was really dissapointed with durability

Stoner's Invisible glass

was not that great compared to regular windex

Sealants in general don't really meet my expectations on black paint. Not that they look bad, they actually look pretty good but I prefer a deep liquid look of carnauba based products on black over the wet glass look of sealants.

EX w/carnauba and Wolfgang are the only sealants I really like on black.

I haven't tried Zaino, but have been considering it, especially with what I've heard about the new pro. However, I too have wondered if it is really up to the hype. I would love to see a poll from people who have tried it. I have used NXT and it seems to last well on my car and looks nice, but not spectacular.

1. Zaino (no disrespect intended....it just did not produce what I was expecting)

To be fair, my brother tried my sample on his car, and had a better result (amazing considering his car was 10 years old, and my car was an infant). It still did not have the finished look of my typical waxed finish, but for him it produced a respectable finish.

What did I learn? Preparation is the key, and you get exactly what you pay for and the effort that is put into developing an optimal resolution from your paint's finish.

I do respect the guys opinion and I believe it was his experience, but I also wanted to add some positives so this wasn't a total product bashing post. I hope that was appropiate.

The good thing about this product is if you use it with 0000 grade steel wool to get rid of bad stuff like tar and bad water spots that have been on windows for a long time, but having said that, if you just spray it on then wipe it off with a towel, your right it's no better than Windex.

Burlyq,

My statement was not directed to anyone in particular. I was simply reminding everyone to play nice before it got out of hand. Anytime Zaino comes up, there is usually a nice little debate which is fine, I just don't want it to end up in personal attacks, etc. You did just fine by adding a positive tone to a rather negative thread. Thank you.

As of now, this thread is going great. Let's try to keep it that way. :xyxthumbs

Zevo, it all depends on what your looking for. If you want shine and durabilty Zaino would meet any hype. If you want a deeper gloss nuba' look and something that covers imperfections you might try something like Wolf. It depends on the color of your car and what you require from your sealant. Unfortunately, no sealant has yet to satisfy all my requirements. Deepest wetest look, shine, durabilty, imperfection hiding abilty, multiple coat capabilty, nothing offers all of these yet, so you gotta pick something that meets you and your cars personality. I really like Zaino on black cars but if there is swirls I really hate Zaino on black cars, lol.

I do not get the horrendous streaking with IG like I always did with Windex.

I 3rd or 4th, something like that; the responses regarding NXT. Looks are mediocre, as well as slickness. Durability wise- id say poor for a sealent. Im hoping that the paste wax version offers better durability, because as of right now NXT is the sealent in the back of the cabinet I use for free one step details for friends in need.

I'm not "all that" over the Clearkote waxes and mooses.

I dunno why, I just don't see them as better than anything else. I guess that, for each one of them, I can name a product I prefer more.

#9. This has fallen completely out of my arsenal, probably for the same reason. I can produce the finish I want without ever cracking the seal on the #9.

As an aside, a product can be absolutely excellent, but not live up to the hype because the hype is just so HUGE that the product would have to wax your car AND be a nutritious breakfast drink to live up to it. I'd put both Z and NXT in that camp; no matter how good the product is, the hype is otherworldly and impossible to live up to.

I'd think that attempts to debate a product's efficacy would be best handled through PMs, or perhaps someone can start a thread "How to get best results from xxxx". THAT would be really helpful. The value of THIS thread is that it could serve as a compendium of condensed wisdom; by regrouping things into different sets it could point out some interesting things that weren't noticed because no one asked. If it degenerates into a "did you use it this way?" thread, or people defending against an opinion, that value will be lost.

Maybe a product IS getting used wrong, and needs a "how to" thread. I was surprised to see IG on the list, and I've read that sentiment a couple other places. I have some ideas; I didn't like it at first, either.

I absolutely fell for the NXT Spray Wax ("booster") thing.

No matter what I do that stuff streaks and blotches. I always end up having to reapply another whole coat of the NXT liquid to fix the mess.

I like NXT liquid just fine but the spray is total hype.

rain-x (sp?) completely and uterly useless. did nothing but streak my windshield, had a hell of a time getting it off!

#9 is the only thing I can think of that I was very dissapointed with. I bought it because it was called "Swirl REMOVER". Then I tried to use it by hand and it hardly did anything. I later found out that it had fillers too. I prefer to use polishes that are free of fillers, so I don't know if I'll ever use the #9 again.
