Latest detailsâ„¢ v. new Trailblazer, older 740, MDX, collinite 845 beading at 4 weeks

Scott - your touchless car wash customer with the MDX. With that amount of touchless car washes, do you think that remove your hard work (ie OPC, OPW and 845) ?

I ask because I'm thinking I may employ this regiment this winter..

touchless car wash,

1 coat of Natty's on top of my vm/rmg/4*upp work

interested to hear your thoughts

tumbler-the touchless wash won't undo the polishing but it is hard on wax. Acrylic Jett was holding up really well but I know that Glanz Wax is pretty durable too. Plus with temperatures in the upper 80s and no shade to move the MDX into, I decided to use GW instead of the Acrylic Jett since they have a similar look but GW is easier to use in the sun.

If you regularly use touchless car washes, stick with one layer or two layers of carnauba at the most-the soaps are very strong and can cause streaking if you have several layers of carnaubas stacked. I've found out the hard way. 1, maybe 2 coats, no problems. 5+ and I get streaking on the rare occassion I get lazy.

wow. nice details. i love the looks of collinite 845 IW. for me, it is so much easier to use than Meg's #16, but i never got around to testing it's durability. in your experience, between Meg's #16 and Collinite 845 IW, which one has better durability? thanks.

And what Collinite is best looking 845 or 876?

 Back from the dead!

I haven't used 876, so I can't comment on the appearance between the two. I will say that 845 held up very well. I applied some to a white Expidition around the same time as the cars in this thread (October) and I didn't rewax it until yesterday, nearly 6 months later. Still beading but surface slickness was way down although towels didn't drag over it.

hehe, I'm looking for answers and the posts are very old...

Does 845 have Carnauba? Acts it as a sealant or as a wax? Did you put a coat of a natural wax over 845?

Thanks Scott !!

If I remember right, 845 is a carnauba based product and I applied it over a 4 month old application of AIO/FMJ that was still beading decently. Then for the next nearly 6 months, I washed it weekly using a hose and car wash soap (these customers prefer a conventional hose wash to ONR or QEW).

Looks like a carnauba, lasts like a sealant. Only real problem is it attracts dust until you wash it the first time after applying it.

Then, I'll have to wash the car after waxing with IW, hehe. :D

But if I put a Nattys coat over IW, this will stop the dust attracting, no?
