Just finished using Blackfire WD on my black Mazdaspeed 3

Ok, so I must say this stuff does indeed look fantastic... those who have said that it was hard to take off are either crazy, are letting it dry to long, or perhaps had an older formula.

My car is new with only 5k miles on it, but I felt some stuff in the paint and so I decided to go ahead and give it a mild detail, but not a full polish... I didn't feel that was necessary yet.

I got out the Dawn to wash the car and try to strip at least some of the old sealant off of the car... it did a pretty good job and the beading was down to a minimum. After that I got out the clay bar and went over the whole car. Really it wasn't to bad, but did pick up enough that it was worth it and the paint was again more glassy.

I had ordered Klasse AIO at the same time I got the BF... there were some mild scratches and water spots, so I decided on the AIO with a white pad. It did a great job and the car looked good with only a few deeper scratches that you could notice in only a certain light.

From there I waited a day and then started the BF... I did the first coat by hand just to make sure all the small areas were coated. I wiped each section down, feeling the slickness of the car.. it was amazing. I had to stop for the night and the car had to go outside for a few days (as it's not my garage)... I noticed that the BF while the beading was excellent was still getting some water spots, and the bird droppings which are bad here were still leaving marks in the paint.

I pulled the car in and worked those spots out with the AIO and again it was clean and resealed. I layed it 2 more times, so including the AIO, it now has 4 total layers on it... the car looks great (i'll post some pics when my fiancée gets her camera out.

One question I had for some of the pros though. I have always been a very big fan of Finish Kare 1000... and while the BF looks fantastic, I have to say the finish seems soft? Perhaps that's the right word? While the FK is as hard as a rock and you can feel it when it goes on.

My question is, where I am living now the hose water is VERY hard and has a lot of mineral deposits, as well as a lot of bird droppings. Would it be a good idea to layed with the FK and put a final layer of BF on to keep spotting (from rain since obviously when I wash the car it gets dried) to a minimum?

Overall BF is a great product... I would buy it again for certain!

I have used BFWD as the primary sealant on my wife's car since last year - no problems at all. DC water is not the hardest but it is heavily clorinated. I say give BFWD a try. I am doing a comparison soon - FK1000P on my car and BFWD on my wife's.

I love the look BFWD gives - the deep shine is great.

We bought our daughter a Mazda 3 last July, all that has ever been on it is BFWD. And it's that bright blue that you can see for miles, she loved the color and I'm thinking short of a yellow caution light, it would help other drivers see my baby (16 year old) on the road. As you already know, BFWD is stupid easy to use, just make sure you have a dedicated pad to use, it will not wash out! But, it's easy to reapply every 4-6 weeks and keep the car slick as an onion. For the bird issue, get a cat, a female - get her fixed and watch the birdies stay away! Hard water? Maybe try a little QD spray when you're drying the car.

yeah, a guy about 500 ft. down the road has that color in the Mazdaspeed 3... not much difference in the body, but it does indeed stand out. I had 2 Evo's prior to this car, and while I really loved them, the safety on one was horrible and then I had put so many mods on the other I just got sick of things constantly needing to be taken care of... the MS3 however still performs well, gets better mileage, has a better interior and I got it for 23,5 OTD.

We do have some birds that had made a nest in a little alley way right near the house, but i'll wait until they are grown and gone... I don't want to hurt animals... people I don't so much care about, but animals don't understand which makes it more sad to me lol. Once their gone i'll knock the nest down and that should be that... i'll just watch and make sure more don't come back to make a nest in the same place.

Yeah, it does give it a GREAT shine... especially on a black car! I'm happy with the results, I just hope that 3 coats plus the coat of Klasse is enough.

Do you or anyone else here know if there is a certain time I should wait between coats when layering?

Heh heh heh heh, and if it’s the same color blue as in the avatar to your left, a certain Autopian is also very proudly enthusiastic about it too. ;) I guess I’m very noticeable even if all I’m doing is taking a quick run to Home Depot :o

Now should I be replacing Fuzion with the BF WD?

If you’re really having a big issue with birds, you could always check out a Scarecrow sprinkler to humanely shoo them, if necessary.

If water is hard, add Optimum No Rinse to your wash bucket.

BFWD is recommended to cure for 24 hrs before applying a second coat for maximum durability. However, you can add a second layer within a couple hours and still get tremendious durability (though it depends on surface prep). BFWD has polycharger and the second the product is applied it will cure to the paint. 24hr cure time is to ensure that 99% of users won't see an issue or have durability complaints.

A 3rd coat is really unnecessary unless you want to spruce up the shine after a few months.

Menzerna's Powerlock has been directly compared to BFWD and have shown they have very similar qualities. From my experience, the prep work will play more a role in determining differences between them than anything else. Pick one and stick to it, they are both superb products.

FK 1000 is a solid product but needs 2 coats to match or have slightly better durability than a single coat of BFWD (I don't believe you get more durability with 2 coats of BFWD if have proper coverage initially). BFWD I believe provides a better look though.

How about Menzerna's new powerlock? Supposed to have a super slick finish as well.

The biggest difference making BFWD superior is it having PolyCharger. You'll find many blenders skip this added little expense, but not PAC for obvious good reasons.

Tell her to drive carefully. My little girl wrecked three cars. I take solice in the fact that she told me that none were her fault. Seriously she started taking responsibility and hasn't had a wreck or ticket since. My two boys have never had a ticket or accident. Sorry for the off topic rant
