I firmly believe you should treat jury duty as a privilege and duty. Consider how you would feel if you were being sued wrongfully and only had welfare recipients/unemployed people deciding the case against you.
We wouldn't need tort reform if business-savvy people stayed on juries and decided the cases. Unfortunately, we all feel we have something more important to do and leave the "great unwashed" to stick it to the man with their verdicts.
In Florida, the only qualification to be a juror (and maybe decide a complex multi-million dollar medical malpractice case) is to be a licensed driver.

As you might be able to tell, I'm a personal injury lawyer who DEFENDS the people sued by the advertising ambulance chasers and would love to have responsible, productive citizens as my jurors. They are much more likely to decide cases based on the facts and the law and not on emotion, sympathy and/or prejudice.
