I was looking into getting a nice sealant and wanted to get Z2 but they say to use ZFX and didnt want to get all that jazz.



So to get to the point...



Has anyone used this product? I read up on how its like klasse but newer and with a modern formulation. What I want to know is:

-durability

-looks



Keep in mind I'm looking at the regular one, not the trigger version
 
Durability is good, but doesn't bead as long as the super-durable sealants like Zaino or Collinite. I reapply somewhere every ~4 months usually. Looks are very good, but I honestly have a hard time discriminating between LSPs a week or so after application. What I do like about Werkstat Acrylics is that the look seems to stay fresher longer than some other options. Klasse is a similar product. If you like Klasse, then you'll probably like Werkstat. Probably better. If you don't like Klasse, don't expect to fall in love with Werkstat.
 
I always struggled to get a streak free finish with AJ.



Using UPGP I feel I get better looks and durability, with a very easy application process.
 
AJ is a very good product that always worked very well for me. That being said, nothing ever knocked my socks off bout the looks or durability.



I will say on white it is hard to beat this product.

I am looking for a sealant for both light and dark colors, and I dont want to break the bank, and I want it to have around 20-30 applications from a bottle. Anyone have any recommendations?



How is Z2 Pro without ZFX?

Just because something is old, I wouldn't take it off your list. Klasse has a well deserved reputation for paint protection. It is a bit finicky though. If you like the Z stuff, duragloss 105 or 111 are good choices. However, IMO one of the nicest looking sealants to date is BFWD. Optiseal is also fantastic and super easy to apply. There are just so many good choices. Even though its not a pure sealant, it is hard to beat Collinite 845IW.
 
I've used AJ and AJT and I think it looks good, especially on lighter colors which can otherwise be difficult to make look good with most LSPs. Durability is pretty good too, I think I've gotten 4-6 months out of it. Of course, YRMV.

I use AJT on my silver Lotus and absolutely love it as many here know. The look it gives on silver is fantastic. I can't really speak to the durability as my Lotus is parked in the garage and does not see rain. But the gloss and reflectivity really makes the silver pop.



Highly recommended, especially for lighter colors. :cool:

I personally don't know as I have not tried it on anything but silver. I would say that I do not see it used on dark colors much around here.



What color is your vehicle?



Opti-Seal might be a better alternative for a darker color.

Its a dark grey. And my dad has a black car.
 
I use it on my dark green 4runner and I think it looks great. Klasse had a funny silver sheen at high angles (Scottwax I think has mentioned the same thing), but Werkstat doesn't do this.

You can use Z2 or Z5 by themselves, ZFX just allows you to apply up to three layers without a waiting period.

I would recommend the Trigger version. Much easier to apply and protects and lasts just as long.

I used the Jeff's Werkstat line on my Red Explorer and it really puts a good shine on. The only thing I don't like so far is it shows flaws in the paint easier than other products.
 
I guess im going to get this one :) Its going to be topped with a nice carnauba anyways. If I use a sealant and top with carnauba and after 2 months the carnauba wares off, can I add another coat of sealant?

There lies the problem with topping a sealant with a wax, you "generally" cannot apply sealant again unless you strip the wax (and therefore the original coat of sealant) off because mosts sealant do not bond to wax well. However, you can apply more layers of wax down the road you wish.
