Is Finish Kare going to provide a website to order?

No, it's an Allbrite product. There are two versions of it, Show Shine (FP-048) and Clay Lubricant (FP-053).

The Show Shine is a carnauba/polymer mix qd and imo it's better than 425 or 425 with carnauba anyway. The Clay Lube is the same as Show Shine without protection and silicone.

We have three kinds of QD´s from Allbrite in Sweden. Those two you named and

Allbrite xtra slick show shine.

I'm aware of 146 which has some cleaning properties to it.

FK146 is no ONR, but I do like it for times when I want a bit more cleaning that FK425 provides. E.g., after a wash I drive a vehicle just enough to knock the surface rust off the brake rotors. This leaves a bit of mess on the inner barrels of the wheels, the calipers, etc. and I use FK146 to clean this off.

Just as an update, Meghan from AG is taking care of me and issuing a refund for the difference between the old price of $37.99 and the new price of $29.99 for a gallon of FK425. :)

glad they took care of you, i knew they would... :)

Thanks for the heads up on the AG coupon yesterday. I almost ordered before the weekend, but got sidetracked and when I came back yesterday, it was $10 cheaper plus the coupon. Good times!

I see that the gallon of 425 is back ordered already.

Glad I can pick this up locally!

I still don't get why FK1 relabeled everything...it's obviously not because it was a bulk-only product that they had to rebottle...unless that's the way they did it.

Yea it is kind of weird. I do prefer the FK1 labels to the actual FK labels for some reason though. Not that it actually matters.

Well, actually there is one reason I can think of. FK1 seemed to be masquerading as the real FK, so if they sold bottles with the address/contact info of the real FK, sooner or later someone would get hip to that. Obviously the real FK isn't too internet savvy (they don't even have a website), while FK1 was (race car sound effects included). Based on the way Leda picked things up without much of an eye-bat, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that FK1 wasn't the exclusive or even master distributor, I'm going to say they were just someone who capitalized on Floyd's oldness and a market channel he didn't care to/know how to exploit. Probably FK has a direct sales force which takes care of their dealer and other business (because if they used distributors someone else would have at least tried to muscle in on FK1). I'm betting that most of the other common internet vendors that we buy from were fooled into thinking FK1 was the real FK, as I was, and therefore didn't even bother talking to them about selling the product since "they" had their own store going full blast.

Maybe one of you guys who picks up at the factory or talks to Leda on the phone can pick her brain about what the deal was.

Yea I think it was a surprise to 95% of us when we found out FK1 wasnt actually FK.

I always wondered why UK sites had different labels

When I visited them, they carry tons of stuff in 55 gallon cans. I could have bought a 55 gallon drum of 425! At the current prices for the stuff from AutoGeek, I should have and sold it all to you guys for cost!

Cheers,

GREG

I think a few of us who spoke to the guy at FK1 directly a few times (I did) are much less surprised than you might think.

It obvious to me that he was more of a salesman than anything else. Real nice guy to be sure, but a salesman all the way. Also, it was obvious that this was some very small operation, with the same guy answering the phone every time. Once I even called around 7 p.m thinking I would just leave a message, but he answered the phone.

So I always assumed that FK1 was, in fact, just a distributor, and apparently I wrongly thought others believed this too.

I know BigAl3 has talked to him as well, so I would be interested in hearing what he thought.

I talked to him once or twice, too, and wasn't very impressed with him, but you can call Meguiar's and get people who aren't very impressive, as well.

A certain member here filled me in on the "real story" regarding FK a while back and it was sorta a "oh yeah..OK, now some things make sense" type of epiphany.

Yeah, Tory was a nice guy and a true enthusiast, but the way he bashed his competition at AutoInt/ValuGard was off-putting to me. His insistance that "B" would damage stuff seemed a bit goofy at best.

landcruiser- I wonder if that #7 scent goes back to Floyd Meguiar's time at FK  You know...the scent of certain Meg's stuff means a lot to some of us and he grew up around it. Wouldn't surprise me a bit, though I'd also understand if he did *NOT* want that reminder either.

Not that it really matters, but what happened that ended up with FK website closing. I know it's still up, but for all purposes it's closed.

I know some have said that they normally would take a month off, but when they never came back.. I'm just wondering if something happen to them?

Setec Astronomy, you think Torry got a talking to like TigerMike?

Though I have them and have tried them, the various FK polishes in the 300 range, all seem to have that #7 brownish color and scent. I just never got that into the polihses like I have the 425, 146, 108, 1000P, Pink Wax etc. I thought that FK was Floyd's company and was initially geared toward aircraft and marine applications?
