Indigo Pearl (dark blue metallic)

AIO isn't great for swirl marks or paint defects. There was a guy on here (I think it was RedCarGuy) that removed some nasty swirls using AIO, but he used a serious cutting pad.

AIO is more of a cleaner/sealant. There's a dispute currently running on whether it hides or enhances swirls. Me, I don't normally put AIO on my cars until they're swirl free, so I can't put my opinion in there.

I reccomend a polish with moderate abrasives. You might consider Menzerna FP, or Meg's #80 for the new car.

After SG, I think you have to wait 24 hours to put anything on it. I guess that includes carnubas.

And yes, you can put a carnuba right over AIO instead of SG. Just keep in mind, you can't really layer a sealant over a carnuba.

First of all thanks for all the help. I'm new to using anything other than off-the-shelf products.

so use #80 (i guess #7 isn't good), then AIO, then carunuba. P21S? what's your experience, you seem really knowledgable.

before joining autopia, i was thinking NXT then yellow #26.

You'd probably start off with clay. If at the very least, feel for patricularly rough spots and just spot-clay.

After that, go ahead and do the #80. After a panel, or half the hood, wipe it down with some Iso alcohol to see how well you've really done. I think #80 (if it's like #83) has some slight fillers in it, which might hide some remaining swirls. The alcohol gives you an idea of what's really left.

After you got your polishing done, apply the AIO. I don't let it set long at all. I get it applied to a panel, or maybe even the whole hood and then remove it. This will also remove the fillers left by the last layer of #80.

After you've got your AIO base, you can wax with your carnuba. P21S is great. Before applying the 2nd coat (if you want to) give it some time to cure a little bit. I don't think it's really required, just reccomended.

After that, experiment with layering waxes, etc. :)

No, the carnuba will look very deep and wet.

Durability of the wax might be 3 weeks, depending on weather and wash schedule.

I have no real idea on the AIO.

i have a Navy Blue Mettallic TA and have used Collinite 845, NXT and Tropicare TC3 on it- the NXT looked good-very sharp reflections but seemed to be a touch too relective IMO-the highlights were too bright- Collinite 845 had deep slightly soft reflections with a very nice glow- TC3 looked very similar to 845 with slightly sharper reflections and nice mettallic pop

Here is an email I received from Tech support at Meguiar's:

You do not necessarily need to use the M05 New Car Glaze because the NXT Generation Wax has polishing oils in it that will bring out a deep gloss finish.

The NXT Tech Wax can be layered. It is recommended that you wait 24 hours between waxings in order for the polymers in the Tech Wax to completely adhere to the paint. After 2-3 applications, there is no added benefit to layering the wax.

Once again, you do not need to use the M26 Yellow Wax on top. You might find that both the 5 and 26 give you a superior finish so I would recommend doing a section with and without and see if there is a difference.
