In my new relationship with Autopia, I find myself doing something I'm not used to doing........Click & Brags!
For my first one, being I'm promoting Blackfire products, I thought I'd use all Blackfire from start to finish!
First off I started with the wash using wet shampoo and immediately liked the smell and the suds seemed to last forever!
Cleaning the wheels of a BMW are no easy feat and I had just done these last week so they weren't very dirty but I did give them a shot of IronX to remove the stubborn brake dust!
Next up was the claying of the surface, though not too bad (I maintain the car fairly well)> I used BLACKFIRE Poly Clay & Lubricant Combo - Fine Grade, it left the surface smooth and contamination free!
(sorry no pictures of this boring task)
Drying the car was made super easy by using the Cobra Supreme Guzzler Waffle Weave Drying Towel, 20 x 40 inches
At 56 years old, I prefer to work smarter than your average detailer........
On to the compound step!
For compound I used the BLACKFIRE Scratch Resistant Clear Compound New Formula! with the Rupes Duetto RO Polisher and as for the pads I used, they are designed to be used with the Blackfire compounds/polishes and I can say that when they release these for sale you will love them!
The defects were light (polished 4 years ago by me and maintained regularly by me) and due to the color (Crystal Blue Metallic) they were difficult to see!
I'm a stickler for removing license plates and brackets, If it has paint, it gets polished!!
This car has quite a few tight areas that 5" pads just won't fit into so I used the new FLEX PE8 Kompakt Rotary Polisher with FLEX 1 Inch Rotary Backing Plate and yet some more unreleased pads that I'm testing!
It was getting late and I really wanted to apply 3D HD Fabric Protector to the convertible top so it could dry overnight.
As for the polishing step I used Blackfire Finishing Polish applied with the Meguiar's G110v2 and yet another "soon to be released" polishing pad!
After polishing the car was stripped for coating using BLACKFIRE Crystal Coat Paint Prep
Being I was using Blackfire products, what better coating to apply than BLACKFIRE Crystal Coat Paint Coating 8 oz.
Here's the stripped paint before coating
I started with an area that I've had no great luck with reviving, the side view mirror trim!
After applying one coat of BLACKFIRE Crystal Coat Paint Coating 8 oz., this was the result:
Here's a couple of pictures of the coating applied to different areas
Onto the tires, I chose this for a clean, black, non-dressed look, BLACKFIRE Total Trim & Tire Sealant 8 oz.
And here's the products used in creating this version of WHIPLASH!!!
Now, onto a few beauty shots!
