Ice water to enhance wax's shine???

I just read on autodermcarcare.com that using ice water after applying a wax will harden the wax quicker making the shine deeper. I supppose this does not apply to synthetic, sealants

I never ever heard of this technique before and I'm skeptical of it. I wouldn't use it myself because I use sealant but I'm very curious about it.

The product by the way, auto derm, is totally unconvincing to me. I don't need this product because I have paint in good shape but reading this "tip" in addition really makes me question.

Anyone know about using ice water to buff off wax? TIA

It also helps if you are wearing animal print underwear and standing on one foot too. Make sure that ice water is the purest bottled water. I've heard that using tap water and homemade ice cubes will simply cause the car to disolve.

Some people will say anything just to talk. I'm one of them sometimes. :D I've never heard that using ice water has any positive effects on your wax. My car doesn't look any better after a coat of wax in the summer than it does in the winter. Washing your car with ice water after you wax it isn't going to make the wax last any longer. Especially if you just pull it out and park it in the sun again.

Well a technique to set the wax i read in one of David B's articles is to apply and remove the wax as usual.

Then park the car out in the sun for 30-60 minutes to let the paint warm up. Pull the car back into the garage and QD it with cool water.

this is suposed to increase shine. Sort of like spit-shining boots.

Yeah, this technique sounds more realistic. I used QD quite a bit when I used Blitz. QD with cool water helped removed some of the haze on a black finish

Hmm, If Anyone Chooses To Try this, Make Sure Your Car paint Isnt Hot First, That Could Be Bad.

I try To Avoid Any thing That Is An Extreme Temperature. Dont Want Any Crazing, Or Anything Of That Sorts.

Nothing like rubbing ice chips on your cars paint to bring out that shine. ;) I doubt any real damage would come of it, but Bolton is right and you should be careful about cooling a surface too quickly. We used to throw hot water on cold windshields when I was younger and watch them shatter. I know, bad thing to do. Believe me, I paid for it. I've seen glassware taken out of the oven shatter in the sink when cold water was poured on them. Changing something's temperature too quickly can mess some stuff up. I like David's technique better too. :bigups

no Rotarys dont burn through paint its a stupid myth people made up the only way you could burn the paint is useing a pad with compound at 1500+ RPM holding it in the same spot for more then 30 seconds its almost impossible.

Wow bad grammar to boot too.

EDIT: Darn watching to much of the Kramer....

I went to the site but didn't see the ice thing Bill. Where is it on their site? I'll keep shopping online for new animal print underwear while I await your response. :)

Thanks!

Brad

Oh OUCH Jason! :lol I actually cringed when I read that!

I don't know about this tip being nonsense..... I distinctly remember this being mentioned at some time in one of the Archived threads that I read last year. In a more recent thread I talked with Nick T about it a bit also (where is he anyway? Did he get Autopia burnout? ;)). I think he was going to try this out.

Here's a screencap of the ice water tip. Apparently these people don't want anyone to copy and paste their text, as all the content on their site is actally in graphic flash files...

They should know that couldn't stop a dedicated individual.

Wow. Not only do they have tips I've never heard of but they also have some kind of way to actually measure the difference between doing it their way and the normal way!!! I gotta get me one of those! Finally we know where to go when we want someone to tell us how much better product K is over product Z for example. :lol ;)

Jason... I'm dying of laughter. BWAHAHAHAH

Orange wax and Vitamins A & B... I'm dying of laughter. BWAHAHAHAH

Fr0zen, it's obvious that 99% of your posts do no good for the community. It would make most sense for you to stop posting and stop embarrasing yourself before getting ridiculed even more. Thanks!
