I tend to use a pressure washer more often than not, but not all the time so I voted "other."
I think they have a valid place in one's arsenal of detailing tools.

Mine's 1,500 psi, I always observe the "one foot" rule when using it on paint. They're great for filthy wheel wells, undercarriage work and on certain really trashed/greasy/filthy engines.

Good poll Bill... thanks!

All the time. I have a variable pressure on mine so I turn it up for wheels and tires, down further for the pre-wash rinse, then for the final rinse. I find it very helpful for front ends with baked on bugs. If I pre-soak with APC first, the pressure washer usually gets 99% of the bugs off before I even wash it.

How many of you use a pressure washer?

What are your thoughts on pressure washers?

I have a 2600 psi gas model, haven't used it on vehicles but the wheels gotta come off and the undercarriage on the truck is gonna get some blasting. I originally bought it to clean decks and cedar trim, got to check out the pressure adjustability for use on vehicles.

Aren't pressure washers bad for your paint and wax? I was told that the force of the water being blasted against your dirty paint will create fine marring.

If you have psychic powers why don't you just pick the winning powerball number instead of trying to get ppl to spend $29.95

My psychic powers tell me your response will be deleted very soon :wizard:

+1 for when the vehicles are really filthy.

I also like it for vacation bugs and winter crap (at a coin operated spray "wash"). It gets 'em clean enough for ONR to work its magic.

1600 PSI......Wheels(especially the barrels), wheel wells, tires, engine. Rinsing the paint as well, just hold the wand at a good distance.

♥My Power Washer♥

Hello Guys/
Well being I live in New York [Snow & Salt/:cursing:/:mad:] I have a large3800/PSI Gas Power Cold Water Washer.Hopefully, before the Snow flies this coming Winter...We'll be down South, prolly Florida. I used a Hot Water one at my Bus Garage job many years ago,for 13 years. It cleaned the Engines/Trans/Rear w/Zep Degreaser unbelieveably...They had to be for D.O.T. Inspections.
After doin' that for many years,I got good at my job,so I figured it was time to get my own.It was costing too much $$$ at the Car Wash, plus they don't have that 45 Degree Angle Pipe Fitting like I bought for mine at the wand end.I have a Quik Connect at the wand end to change different Degree Spray Patterns.I like the *25* Degree the most. The 40 Degree is good also. The Angle Pipe is good for the Undercarriages,as it gets into more areas than a Straight Wand can't do.I spend a good,30 minutes or so on the undercarriage and the Engine/:clap:.Bad Habit...Maybe,but I know it's clean, lol.
I get those *Gaps* between the Doors & Fenders/Doors and Rocker Pannels/Etc.
My only regret is I have a Pull Start. It does start easily, but I'm always afraid of hurting my back when I yank that rope start.
I have to invest in the Electric Start Kit and a Battery for a Honda engine.
Anyways,I love my Power Washer, and feel it was a good investment for me.
Regards/
Raymond

+1

I've been using them on cars for over 20 years now and never seen any negative effects from it. It makes cleaning so much easier, especially when the car is very dirty.
