Ordered it late Wednesday night and it was here on Tuesday afternoon via Fed Ex. Worked out good because I spent the weekend in Houston (off topic national meet) and didn't want anything left on my doorstep while I was gone. Not sure if there are other shipping options.
Acrylic Jett is Shokar...and both products are the nano-technology version of Carlack. AJ is the finalized production version and unlike Shokar, there isn't any discernable scent, while Shokar has a light chemical scent. Consistancy seems the seem, very thin product like Klasse SG or 1Z Glanz Wax.
There is no mention of using a specific product prior to application for proper bonding, just that "Surface should be cool, clean and well prepped." I would still think that for best results you'd need to use their pre-cleaner (an AIO-like product), AIO or a polish that doesn't leave behind a lot of oils. I am going to test that theory though, maybe use products like 1Z MP, Vanilla Moose or Red Machine Glaze, etc and see if that changes anything.
I got a nice note from Jeff, the Carlack importer here in America and he says he will be more than willing to answer questions via e-mail but he will not be registering and posting here so as not to compromise the integrity of the forums and avoid the ensuing drama. He is upfront about the fact that his products are made by Carlack in Germany and he imports and relables them.
Right now, I will be using AJ over AIO since that is what I have on hand (and I still have half a liter) but once I run low, I'll order the Werkstatt pre-cleaner and do some head to head comparisons, plus try AJ over other glazes too. I'll report what I find.
