I'll take EC over PG *any* day. IMO, it cuts more and finishes better. I believe my last gallon was $27. Make sure you have some OP to put in the mix.

50/50, but I do it on the pad, not in a bottle.

So you apply 1 line each product to the pad, equal lengths/widths?

In what pattern? One on top of the other? An X? or probably it doesn't really matter once you start spinning?

I ask because I have HT Heavy and Medium Cuts and I am thinking of mixing in some OP.

Thanks.

I use a similar method with Extreme Cut and OP. On the pad, I place two nickel size dots of EC on opposite sides of the pad. Then, on the other two sides of the pad, I place two pea size dots of OP. It makes for four dots evenly spread out over the pad.

I'd take EC over PG, however the rest of the lines still have distinct uses, so I won't be dropping IP, FPII or 106FF any time soon. :)

Amen to that. :D

Doesn't matter hwat direction, just 50/50--I putit on the pad.

I spoke of this product I think years ago....no one paid much attention then to Hi-Temp....cept the pros because of the great price.....now Hi-Temp is competing with the higher end products it seems. It's about time as years ago when I first started using them they really impressed me (Light Cut and Fine Finish are both excellent products also, try those) but not too many people where willing to try them out. Glad to see they are getting used more.

I just used the new Optimum hyper and it is, IMO, more aggressive than PG, perhaps even EC, but continues to work and finish out so nice.

Gosh darnit, why did Opt decide to redo their Polish and HC! Hi Temp stuff is good, but their products aren't geared to the Enthusiast or Boutique, definitely geared for a professional that uses a rotary 100% of the time.

I totally give you credit--you are *the* reason that I started using them. In one of the HT threads (there have been so many lately) I actually state that we can all thank you for the introduction. :bow

If the new HC is indeed as you say it is--I can't wait to try it. :D

Can HTEC be applied with a 7424? The reason I ask is b/c my VW paint is stupid hard and getting these swilrs out is starting to bug me. I have used a megs burgandy pad with OHC only getting 50% results. I dont really want to get a rotary, but the more research I do this seems like the route I need to take.

Darn! I was just about to order some EC, but I think I will give it a shot before the HC. I wasnt too impressed with the older HC as it took way to long to break down.

Anthony- Yes indeed, you've long advocated the Hi-Temp line :xyxthumbs

can [H-T EC] be used with a cyclo?

Yes, though I've only used it mixed with something that has a longer work time.

It seemed to work OK for me (again, I was using it mixed with 1Z Ultra) but I was using a 4" pad and IMO that makes a big difference.

Although I've read that EC is supposed to geared towards the rotary (solvent based vs. water based IIRC) it seems to work fine by Cyclo/PC if you go about it right (I wouldn't try it with larger pads, only the 4" ones). It doesn't seem to really *need* the heat of a rotary to break down properly but it does need more working than I think you'd get with a PC fitted with a 6.5" pad.

I dunno...I've recommended H-T to people who *don't* use rotaries because their Heavy Cut/etc. can be used by PC or apparently even by hand (or so says the ad copy at TOL).

For vw paint you will need a rotary.

The new hyper is just a beefed up Hyper. Same name, same great quality, just a significant boost in cutting. Basically the whole line up got a formula makeover and some tweaks.
