How is your driving reaction time ?

First try got me to a 24 year old. I'd say that's ok but I haven't had my coffee yet :) Maybe I should slow down in the mornings.

Second try said "we're not sure if you're an actual human being" :D Something to consider is the keyboard being used. I use a mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX Blue switches with full n-key rollover for maximum response from inputs. I think response times would be delayed slightly with standard membrane style keyboards.

Can someone please translate this?

Somehow, i got older as I played the game. But, I haven't had coffee, my morning breakfast, AND i'm coming down with something.

I looooooooove my mechanical keyboard I use at home. I wish I could use one at work without disturbing the person I share an office with.

Didn't try the Virtual test, but this is something on which I've expended a *LOT* of resources. It can be a humbling experience until ya get dialed-in, especially for a Car Guy with on-track experience.

(Noting that I'm in my mid-50s) At Vehicle Dynamics Institute - Advanced Driver Training - Vehicle Dynamics Institute I consistently do the right thing correctly in under 1 second for "single-issue" scenarios (IIRC you gotta be under 2 seconds just to qualify), and I'm only a little slower for multi-problem ones. Experiences IRL indicate that I've fully assimilated/synthesized that training and that's what really counts.

The general rule-of-thumb is that IRL you gotta solve any problem in under two seconds or you're toast. The VDI studies indicate that virtually *nobody* can do that without extensive training; gotta program it into your OODA Loop under Adrenal Stress or else you won't pull it off IRL when you're not expecting it.

When somebody says "I couldn't help it, the other guy...", well, I set the bar awfully high where my driving is concerned. As an Instructor once said, "if a meteorite falls out of the sky and totals the car, I should've dealt with it because I'm the Driver and that means it's all on me".

Tried this a number of times and repeatedly came up between 24 and 28. My wife tried it got a 71, she's decades younger. I was looking over her shoulder and told her I could have hit the screen before she did. She said she quits while I'm watching. ;)

Mechanical keyboard nerd speak. Google "mechanical keyboard"

Blue switches are known for how great they feel when typing, but are notoriously loud.

Coincidentally...last night I had to do the right thing *very* quickly in the '93 Audi when a deer jumped up from below line-of-sight into our lane. The incident was over in the blink of an eye- see deer, spike brakes and turn wheel 90◦ right-then-left, release brakes. Far better outcome than the S8's Deer Incident about a decade ago, but I've had a lot of training since then. Might drive back there in the daylight and see if there are ABS-pulse-marks on the asphalt, only felt two or three pulses as it was over so fast (that car's brakes aren't exactly top-shelf by today's standards).

EDIT: And yes, Accumulatorette stayed calm through the whole thing, a bit of an inhale-gasp when she saw the deer appear out of nowhere, then "good job!" as we cleared it.

Accumulator, isn't it great what a difference the driver training can do? I have had MANY near hits that I successfully avoided, and I would attribute it to my autocrossing sessions. I feel it helps sharpen the driver reflexes, with the constant turns and hard braking.

JustJesus- Yes indeed, AutoX is very good for that, often (just IMO) better than Track Days on a roadcourse. In AutoX you learn what the car will do in "sudden transition" maneuvers and at speeds that correlate to Real World driving.
