How far out are you booked? How far out do you schedule?

The topic says it all, slap me if this is a repost. :) I just want to get an idea of how far out you guys are typically booked this time of year.

I no longer have weekends available as they are completely booked with regular customer's. Usually, if there is a good streak of weather, I am booked at least one to two weeks out.

only 2 weeks right now....i had to turn customers away last fall cuz i was booked up for almost 2 months....i wont wont schedule stuff for longer than 3 weeks away....

Do you guys run any specials, or do you keep it on an even keel throughout?

Thanks!

I have so many regulars, no need to run any specials. Heck, some of my customer's kids have grown up, moved out and now call me to detail their cars as well!

No appointments yet, I've JUST started. I'm all ready though. I plan on doing 2-3 vehicles a week and as of now, will take appointments a month out.

If it is a car that needs to be prepped for show or something that is just going to take a crazy long time I will book customers as far ahead as they want. However I have to know them well and done work for them in the past. This is not a privelage I extend to new customers.

Other than that I will book up to two weeks out.

Depending on the weather, I am usually about 1 to 2 weeks out, unless requested by a customer. My regulars are during the week and I always make my new customers wait till the weekends, espically site-un-seens. The weather can really screw your schedule up.

Since I only detail on Friday, Saturday, Sunday Im booked a month in advance at least with about 15 cars on the waitlist.

I am about 16 days out right now, but sometime in those sixteen days I have to detail a

G55 AMG wagon, a Saleen, and a 38 Ford--all are sitting in the sop waiting for a slot. :D

How many jobs a day do you all take to consider yourself booked? I think it would be helpful to also know if you're fixed or mobile and how many people you have working for you.

Right now I'm about a week out with 3-4 cars a day plus hand washes, usually 3-6 on good weather days. I have one full timer and one part time, fixed location. I'm looking to hire another full timer as well.

That's a good question. If I am polishing I book one a day. If not I will book up to 3.

Right now my next open day is June 10th. I've had to start turning people away which bothers me, I wanted to see how you guys deal w/it. Sounds like most of you don't book more than a couple weeks in advance and just have people call you again in a couple weeks?

Mobile,

1 guy

My comprehensive detailes are booked out through may (mostly weekends)

Weekdays Are usually polish seals and clean. through the end of april.

3 month returns are monday tuesday.

Usually 2-3 weeks when busy, but I'm getting married next week so I'm not doing any more till first of May after the honeymoon, which I have already about 15-20+ cars lined up waiting......:getdown

What happens if you only book for 3 weeks, and you are fully booked, what do you do with customers who call looking to get work done?

I am booked through May right now. I only do one car a weekend and it's always a full int/ext detail. If someone calls and needs a quick wash or wash and wax I will try to fit them in. I have a really hard time telling people no.....LOL!!

I work a regular day job, umpire softball three nights a week, play two nights a weel and detail on the weekends. So there isn't a lot of free time to try to slip someone into the schedule.
