How far out are you booked? How far out do you schedule?

I work alone, mobile. 90% of my work is classics and exotics, and usually full paint restorations.

I am 65 cars behind right now. I have 2 private collectors, and 2 clients that sell classics and exotics they tend to keep me pretty busy by themselves. I've been thinking about starting to turn away the daily driver cars for a little while.

:shocked :shocked :shocked Better get to:waxing: !!!

I've cut back to Mon-Thurs for a year or two now. Schedule stays full with weekly and biweekly customers (few monthly). I try to squeeze cars in here and there but no new customers.

Brick and mortar location with two bays.

I'm full time with a part-timer and some backups I can call in if needed.

I have about 1-2 full details a day scheduled at two weeks out. I will book up to two months ahead but that typically doesn't happen. I'll take walk-ins/call-ins for hand washes and details if I can fit it in that day (usually can). I'll do anywhere from 3 cars to 12 cars a day. The part-timer helps do the hand washes, delivering vehicles, and catch up if I'm behind.

I have a few friends I can call in that I pay cash if the workload gets too much... I don't like turning clients away. I had to turn a one away for the first time this week after spending 8 hours on a Land Rover with a severe tree sap problem. My night time appointment got bumped because I was up until 1am, with help, to get it done for the client the next morning..

Yeah, thats no joke. I need to hire some help. Just can't find anyone I trust.

Welcome to my he!!. This is a tough business to find good, reliable help. Even worse, after a few months, some of them think they know it all, quit and try to steal your customers by charging less. This will probably be the last summer either of my sons can help me. I just hope my younger boy is here long enough to help me with the 20 cars a law firm has me detail every June.

Dudes... I totally hear you on the help thing. I've been interviewing, and frankly they are either not nearly responsible/reliable enough, or just looking to get some experience then start their own thing. I'm currently booked into the middle of July, I'd kill for a solid helper. :/

I am booke dout about a month right now with others waiting in the wings.

I have an ad out for employees with "NO EXPERIANCE, I WILL TRAIN."
