How do I remove old touch-up paint?

I have a silver Mazda 6 that I bought slightly used. There are several spots where someone put touch-up paint on it in big globs, like nail polish. I want to take it off and repair the spots correctly, but I don't want to go to more trouble than its worth (I'm the only one that really notices it.) Is there an easy way to get it off?

Mineral spirits should remove them just make sure to use it directly on the spots and clean the area good afterwards.

If mineral spirits doesn't take it off, try some lacquer thinner. Most of the touch-up paint on the market is lacquer based. Most of the new basecoat/clearcoat finishes are not harmed by it, so to be sure try a small area first. Also keep it off of the plastic trim like mirrors, winshield trim, etc.

You can use 2000-4000 grit wet sand paper. That's how I did on mine.
Just smooth out the glop...may sure you dont sand too deep. You need to smooth it out and even with your paint surface. If you see black primer while you wet sanding.... thats too late already, you can't turn back. :boohoo

Or you can get "langka" to fix your touch up.

You can use Langka. If you wet sand I would recommend Meguiars Unigrit Sanding Blocks. These things allow you to pin point exactly where you want to sand without affecting the surrounding area.

Langka is most effective on freshly dried touch-up paint. If it was applied more than a week ago, then I would recommend wet-sanding.

Saw this in an auto store the other day and thought I'd give it a shot.
You can see it took out some touch-up paint by looking at the MF.
The before and after pics don't do it much justice. To the touch, the touch-up paint is much flatter, but it was applied over a month ago. To be fair, the directions say to use it 1-2 hours after touch-up paint is applied.
I tried it on some freshly applied touch-up paint and it took off too much, to the point part of the rock chip was re-exposed, but the remainder was much better looking. Unfortunately, the digicam battery died so I have no pics of this.

Overall, it pretty much does what it's supposed to. If you're doing 1 or 2 rock chips then this is good. Doing 10 or more, it's going to take a long time. If you're comfortable with wetsanding, I wouldn't bother with this product. It's too expensive, and requires as much effort as my old method or 2000 grit wetsand and scratchx, and only effective on fresh touch-up paint.
I will be using this product again, to give it another chance, but without a doubt, if you have a lot of chips to worry about, it can't compare to wetsand.

This product is exactly the same as the Langka version, just repackaged. However, I've been told that Mothers no longer do this.
