How are the other FourStar products?

Sure enough...I enlarged the bottle's picture and it says right there "harmful or fatal if swallowed". I really didn't believe the claim that consumption of the product was safe anyway. I wonder if they are actually harmful to the environment though.

Almost all such products are labled as "harmful or fatal if swallowed", whether or not it actually is. It is how manufacturers protect themselves against the truly stupid, you know, the ones who need warning labels on windshield screens saying "do not operate car with screen in place".

That doesn't mean you can drink 4* products but that doesn't necessarily mean they will kill you either.

If it can kill a human it's probably dangerous for some of natures wild creatures.

Yes it probably is.

Burlyq said:
BTW, no such warnings are on my palmolive and generic brand dish soaps.

I don't think a product that gets used in the kitchen around food would sell very well if it had a "harmful or fatal" warning on it.

Why are you guys pushing soo hard? There is nothing on the bottle that says safe for the environment. It's a mistake or miscommunication from the seller, that's it. The stuff has warnings on both sides and says even in case of accidental injestion SEEK IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION. C'mon already.

Scott has a good point...while I wouldn't drink any of the detailing products I use, they have to have disclaimers for liability/insurance reasons. Another thing to thank the lawyers for.

We all know that coffee is hot, but some idiot sued McDonalds and got a few million so now every take out coffee cup from any place has a disclaimer that the beverage is hot & may burn.

Coffe doesn't say harmful or fatal if swallowed.

LOL, thank God! But you aren't going to let a hot cup of coffee sit in your crotch while you drive either, right?

Like I said I wouldn't drink any of my products...but I'm sure a lot of folks do eat lunch or dinner without washing their hands after detailing.

For the record I haven't tried a 4* product I didn't like, I am not a professional and I don't sell any products or represent any company.

Yes, but the cups now say "CAUTION EXTREMELY HOT" on them. The manufacturers are trying avoid multi-million dollar lawsuits with morons like that coffee drinker that sued McDonalds.

People should just assume that ingesting a car care product is not a healthy idea, but they need to be warned in order for them not to take advantage of the legal system and seek a huge payout.

According to the owner of Clearkote, you can drink their QD, Quikshine but he puts a warning on the label anyway to cover himself from potential Darwin Award candidates and the terminally stupid.

Coffee isn't a car care product though, now is it? I'll bet there are warnings on Round Up that say harmful or fatal if swallowed. I'll bet that any weed killer would say that. I don't know that I would want to drink a bottle of an lawn care product. I wouldn't drink the water out of my rain gutter either. I wouldn't eat the rose petals that I raked up last week or the leaves that I threw away. Does that mean that because it is not compatible with our bodies that it is harmful to the enviromnemt too? It doesn't have to be edible to be environmentally friendly.

And just regarding the link I threw out there... The question is regarding the Four Star line, yes? Who do you think makes that stuff? Who do you think supplies AutoGeek with it? How does pointing people to the source of the products make me money? If someone wanted to know about Zaino, would you point them to a distributor or the manufactuer? Directing people to PAC shows no bias on my part. On Autopia I am not a vendor. I am 'Jngrbrdman the obsessive product tester' just like I have always been. I've never pushed a product here that I have profited off of in my life and I don't intend to start now.

I appoligize for ruining one thread, I was wrong with some of the things I said, I was frustrated when I first joined because I though Autopia was like another site I had problems with getting booted for having a different opinion than what their vendors carried.
Actually, it's been more than one thread. We've deleted at least one thread, another had to be heavily edited and was returned to the forum, and several other threads have been watched closely due to your involvement.

I was wrong, this is a special place. I was also misinformed with PD's in klasse, but my other points where valid. But, there is a problem with vendors being deceptive here in my opinion. That post above is a sales pitch common man.
That's the second time I've seen you call someone "common man". Do it again, and you're gone; personal attacks, even this kind of petty name calling, will NOT be tolerated.

If a moderator tells me I'm wrong on this I'll never bring it up again I give my word, but I think who is and who is not vendors are relevant.
You're wrong. If you believe someone is acting as a shill, contact a member of the moderating staff, and we'll look into it. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT raise the issue in the forums. All it does is hijack whatever thread you've posted to, and it's rather annoying to other forum members.

That said, if you're a vendor, please take a moment now to edit your signature and identify yourself. This is a recent rule that was implemented a couple of months ago, and I notice a lot of our older members that are vendors haven't changed their signature. Remember, you can identify your company, and your affiliation with that company (owner, salesman, tech rep, whatever), but URLs linking to your business are NOT allowed. No pictures, and less than three lines of text, please.

Secondly, we have people saying these products are something the clearly are not, safe for the environment. So with this info, who ruined this post? Me for pointing out these things or the people who where being deceptive?
Products that are poisonous if ingested may also be safe for the environment when signifcantly diluted: "The dose makes the poison." Unless you plan on catching wildlife and force feeding the cleaner to them, they're probably safe. Here's another example of something that's poisonous in high concentrations, but innocuous when diluted: chlorine. Pure chlorine is dangerous enough to use as a chemical weapon (and has been), but we use it to sanitize our water supply.

I don't believe anyone is trying to be deceptive here, just a poorly handled misunderstanding. Let it go.

Thanks,

Tort

There's nothing as refreshing as a tall cold glass of Quik Shine on a hot day. :D

You know, you don't have to answer to Burlyg. Anybody who has read your posts knows you to be an detailing enthusiast. I've never found you anything but completely balanced and very knowledgeable.

And, btw, I would still be using Meguairs Gold Class and washing my car every three months if not for some interactions I had with over at acura-tsx.com.

You guys turned me around, I'm turning a new leaf. I'm going to take this stuff despite the warning and water my plants with it. It can't hurt the plants right and since it doesn't clean wheels too well maybe it will clean the dirt of the leafs. I've tried to email mods all you emails are shut off.

Good luck to you and your plants.

Use the private messaging system (PM) if you want to contact us; most members leave their e-mail out of their profile to prevent spam-spiders from picking it up. Click on the "CP" link in the upper right-hand corner of this page (next to "HELP"), then click on the "Private Messages" link. From there, you should be able to figure out how to send a message. My inbox was full earlier today, but I've made some room; feel free to fire off a message. Or, if you feel I've treated you unfairly, send a PM to DavidB.

BTW, you might try some Miracle-Gro along with the wheel cleaner . . . the stuff works wonders.

Have a nice day,
