Have you tried Carnauba Lately?

Last Carnauba I used was Natty's Blue on my buddies Nissan Sentra. It didn't knock me out.

I also have Soveran but haven't used it in a while. But I do open the jar and smell it occasionally!!!

Meguiars Professional Paste Wax, a.k.a. #16, is a pure wax containing carnauba according to the label. It mentions nothing about being inorganic (synthetic). You have a source that supports that claim?

As the label says "Contains Carnauba" and its durability I had always thought that it was a synthetic wax

This thread is getting borderline full of regurgitation and mis-information

But as we all know, a wax cannot contain more than X amount of carnauba because its just too "unworkable" - I will not say "hard" because functionally detailers need things that WORK.

A Carnauba wax is organic, Collinite and Megs #16 are both inorganic (synthetic)

No. ...but other parts and ingredients contained in their mixes are synthetic(which as stated earlier is different from the definition of inorganic).

This probably comes from the ambiguity of the words "synthetic".... silicone oils(that are probably in nearly LITERALLY close to 100% percent of waxes and sealants(OMG NOOOO, not silicone oils - yes.) are the products that along with whatever amount of carnauba, make it usable and workable. If you don't have a solvent, whatever you put in will not stay in solution because remember... we want things that "dislike" water.

We need to remember it is the quality silicones, the carnauba, the oily products that wouldn't otherwise provide protection, and most importantly the solvents in a wax or sealant that actually make them look good, perform well and make them easy to use.

Even as such the carriers are petroleum distillates which contain carbon, thus making them ..... ______

I use all the different Zaino products early and often and love it. However....my current DD has kind of boring color and I decided to put DP MaxWax on top and see what happens. I'm actually quite happy with it. Seemed to make the color look richer and possibly a little deeper. I really think it brought the metallic out also which I was not expecting. I also figured it would attract dust like crazy but the opposite seems to be true. Not necessary I know, but it goes on and off so easy it was fun to try it even if I don't continue to use it. I bought the max wax primarily to use on the wife's metallic black Acura and will definitely continue to use it on that.

Haven't used wax as a stand alone LSP for a while. They never tend to last in warm climates like S. Florida and most of the cars I work on are drivers.

Interesting. Just put the MaxWax over the top of Z-AIO and multiple coats of Z-CS on a relatives Dark Reddish-Purple (Wine?) Metallic and the effect was not as positive. Looked fantastic, but when put the 'nuba on it actually muted things a bit at least under incandescent garage light. Still looks great, just the subtle change.I kind of suspected this would happen so I just had to try it. At least it will have a little extra protection for a couple of weeks.

This is a queston for Togwt. Isent there a wax called called Micro-crystaline that is a synthetic, that minics carnuba.

Microcrystalline waxes are a type of wax produced by de-oiling petrolatum, as part of the petroleum refining process. The biggest users of this type of wax are personal care (hair removal, the original wax on-wax off), cosmetic, and candle industries, but are now pursuing materials that are considered "green" and based on renewable resources. Microcrystalline wax is often used in the auto for their tyre and rubber, adhesives, and is very similar to mould release type products used in castings, as well as a host of others.

A synthetic wax that contains a high ratio of polymers to beeswax would probably mimic Carnauba wax.

I would have to say that of all the waxes I’ve tried Zymol Vintage Glaze is the most optically clear (exhibits Colour, Depth and Clarity) Carnauba wax I’ve used, applied with bare hands; it’s aesthetics have got to be seen first to be believed.

Alternative products –

• Swissvax Concorso / Best of Show

• Pinnacle Souverän Paste Carnauba (IMO this wax will better most other waxes out there)

• Victoria Concours Red Wax

• P21S 100% Carnauba Wax( a very under rated wax, especially for its price)
