this is one of those threads that if you show it to someone else they think your're even crazier than they thought

my Dad would also be ticked off if he saw how much time I spend detailing the cars.... he would probably ask me to stop rubbing his car if i dare to detail it ... LOL
 
While at work I need water to clean the car in the parking lot but there is no water supply in the lot.

I haul 2 empty gallon bottles down a 25 yards corridor to the office breakroom. Fill both up with water from the sink. Haul them back up the same corridor and pass my senior manager and VP's office. Down the stairs and out to the parking lot to clean my car:rolleyes:



Don't try this at home if you are concerned about your job security:confused:

yeah, it's even heated lighted has both an overhead hose and a side one. It's on a metal grate and you can even spray up under the car



I don't use it as much I would like too, but yes, it's new. There's a thread here, I posted this past fall when I was soo excited when I saw they were putting a garage door in the side of our waste treatment room attached to the building. I saw that thing and thought gold!!!!
 
Wow not much to add to this thread.

My neighbour looks over last night and says " washing your car again, you're going to wash the paint off" hehe

Getting ready for bed and going out to take another look at your spotless car making sure you didn't miss anyplace.
 
Your car gets more time with a toothbrush than your teeth do.



Your neibors know not to joke around when they see you washing your car to ask if they want done, unless they want to leave it with you for a few hours.

here's another Autopian habit :

we only open and close our cardoors using the handles , not the sides of the door or the window-edges .

And we TEACH our wife and children to do likewise.

We allso teach our dear family members that a car-door is not a vault- door...

HAHAHAHA, that is my pet peeve...... My 240 has frameless windows, so most people go to grab the window to close it (upon exit), there's this little lip of moulding that runs along the base of the window, I have instructed everybody that get's in and out of my car to close it that way. :up


What about the people that drive past your house while you're detailing, "CAN YOU DO MINE NEXT?" Hahah, umm no. It's more rewarding when you do it yourself.


That sinking feeling you get when somebody puts a hand print somewhere on the paint while getting out of the car. (after cleaning, claying, polishing, waxing...... etc) Uggh. :(
 
We invest enough money in detailing products that we can put a down payment on a car, almost everyone will buy a PC7424 7336 etc..., we always hate store purchased items(most of them) unless they come from an e-tailer. :)
 
David, I was going to post the link to the "how do you close your car door" thread, but you killed it :( (I thought it was a good an informative thread, lots of suggestions ???)
 
I forgot, i also make sure when im driving on the motorway - i cruise - NEVER speed down at high speed - as ive found you get less insects splatting on the windscreen.





I also check very discreetly when someone is in the back car to make sure they dont put there feet on the leather seats and mark them - & if they leave litter - I HATE THAT!!!!!!



I look at other drivers to see there reaction when i drive pass in my super clean Continental - i do this quite well - its darn hard to do this around roundabouts though.



I swerve the car to avoid puddles.



If it rains i always dry the car when it stops.



I wipe the car down with a damp soft cloth at service stations when im stop for a rest at a motorway.



I like people to compliment the car/cars when they walk past & if they dont i ignore them.



I never let anyone eat in the car.



I keep the cars in the shade in summer. And indoors in winter .



I am more intermate with my car of late than with the wife
 
Wife & I get home relatively late every night. Do I go in the house first, no siree. Right into the garage and do some detailing, engine work, etc on KERMIT.

Last week had a car show to do on Saturday. Went into the garage at about 10PM Friday night to "just check a few thing out."

Am happily working away on a few discovered needs. After awhile I turn around and my son is standing there, looking at me, & smiling. Ask him what he is smiling about. He presses the garage door opener to open the door. HEY, THAT STREET IS BRIGHTER THAN IT NORMALLY IS. Nah, that ain't the sun, is it. My god I have to leave for the car show in 20 minutes. [WE WON 1ST]

Wish I could do that. On open road I've usually got if floored. Guess that is why the front of my truck is covered with rockchips. :rolleyes:

I've got one of those bug/rock guards on my truck though. It is funny because you can see the really big bugs coming right at you and then you see them get blown right over the roof. Doesn't seem to stop rocks that well though. I can hear them hitting the windshield sometimes :(
 
I hope those rocks have not caused u too much damage. I wouldnt like that 1 bit if that happened to me like that.

Teach my children NOT to put hands on windows, teach wife not to use windshield squirting things, sometimes stains the wax and windshield, need to fill resevoir with water.
