GPS navigation

My awesome sister sent me a GPS for Christmas. I hope I like it and helps me around when mobile detailing.

Normally I use Google directions and works pretty well most of the time.

Do you love or hate GPS ,pros and cons? Its a TOMTOM.

Is life going to get easier for me or are my problems just beginning?:lol2:

Im not sure I will like having something talking to me while I drive!

I bought a Garmin when I started detailing. Loved it when I first got it until it kept getting me lost. (Think it was due to the voice was set to a woman's voice...jk) I got tired of buying updates. I now use "Navigation" on my phone and it has never let me down.

I have the option of setting it to a mans voice, do you think it will be more accurate then!?:lol2:
This one gives free lifetime updates!:bigups

I sometimes use my navigation system that came with my car but I never updated the disc so it still shows stores and routes from 2006. The discs are like $170 so I just use google maps on my phone which works great. :)

I couldn't be without GPS. I have always had a Garmin but with the new voice turn by turn nav on Google Maps via my Iphone I am all set :)

i love my garmin and wouldn't be without it. i bought the lifetime updates a few years ago, but i see that most garmins come with the free updates now. mine is very accurate about 98% of the time.

Well, if you switch it to a man's voice, it will still get you lost and will refuse to stop and ask for directions, so you have to consider that too, ok, ? :)

:lol2:Dan!

So I got it set up and drove a couple blocks from my house and touched home for my destination.

It did take me the quickest way I suppose but it took me through a bad neighborhood I would normally drive through.

Then she pronounced a street in an odd way and I missed my turn! I would have been confused if I didnt know where I was !

I hope it gets better then this !

So nobody minds being talked to while you drive? I find it distracting.

I have a Garmin and generally like it but despite trying the options (faster time, shortest distance, etc) it still sometimes will route you roads that are not the faster. It does not seem to know the concept of just do a u-turn. For example, exit off an interstate to get some gas and sometimes it has you driving miles to get back on it.

Waze learns your daily route and advises about detours, etc., depending on traffic, weather, accidents, etc.

It even announces police radar

Of course it's all done by users...33 million of them

Yeah I noticed that also .The quickest way for me to get home would have been to do a u-turn, illegally of course! :D
But she took me several blocks further away!
