Got tar? Try Meg's Detailer Line APC

I was getting ready to order some Autoglym tar remover, but decided to try my Meg's Detailer Line APC first. I diluted it ~15:1, and used a WalMart MF to apply it and dry the area afterward.



How much time does it take to remove the tar/grime on one rocker panel and dry it too? Let's find out... :)

1 minute, 6 seconds.



I saw a little bit of tar on the front wheelwell edges too, so I cleaned those off with the same process. It wiped off with little effort.

Since I knew I'd never hear the end of it, I cleaned the wheelwell too. :p

I've wanted to try APC, but Megs only sells it by the gallon, and with the different dilutions, it'd be a LONG time before I used it all up on my car and around the house. Even by the gallon, it's not that expensive ... I just wish they sold it in a smaller size.
 
Yeah I ordered the gallon since it can be used for so many different things.

Example...

My change tray used to hold Jolly Ranchers and TicTacs in addition to loose change, and the bottom of the tray got all sticky. The coins at the bottom were also sticky. So I made a little puddle at the bottom of the change tray to allow it to soak for a minute, and I filled a bucket with about 1 inch of APC/warm water to soak the sticky coins in. The tray and coins are now clean and non-sticky. :)
 
im curious, does doing that pretty much kill the MF you use, being that it gets filled w/ all the gunk that you removed? Looks like it works great though
 
The tar is stubborn to come out of the MF, but it's just a WalMart one so it's no big deal. I'd rather throw away a cheap MF than to look at that tar on my rockers every day.

It did work great. I am not looking for a tar remover anymore. APC works just fine for me.
 
Right on, i can see loosing an MF for getting all the junk out. Just curious if you were able to make it useable again or not. I will have to snap a pic of my rocker panels and see what you guys think about how to remove it
 
APC is like the most versatile product ever known to man. It is something else, tires, tar jambs, interiors, carpets, etc.
 
That's great!! Thanks for the info. I've got a gallon around with nothing to use for except vinyl. Why'd you pick 15:1?
 
Does anyone use it for tires? I have been a little afraid and have been using Wheel Brightener which I like alot but if I could use APC without fear of etching I could streamline a little.
 
Did you experience any white staining or residue on the wheel wells with the APC? When I used the old APC + I got the white residue. How much scrubbing did you have to do with wells or was it a spray and rinse.



Ever used the super degreaser on the wheel wells?



Did you dress them afterwards?
 
I did not notice any white staining. If there was, it might be hard to see on the white paint but I did not see anything. None on the wheelwells. Maybe you used too strong of a concentration?

I did not dress anything. The pictures show before/after using the APC, that's all.
 
When I think of an APC, I think of a product that can be used on all kinds of things, you know...an all-purpose cleaner, like Simple Green, etc., and that's certainly what's being discussed here. But if you look at the Meg's description of the APC, all they talk about is cleaning interiors. Is there some reason they target only interiors with this product?
