Gall Stones

Hey Guys,

I may have gall stones. They've been bothering me for a couple of months now. I went and got an ultrasound done last night and the tech thinks she saw some stones. Its a hospital I work at, so the tech hooked me up =). The bad thing is I have to go back Wed and see if its stones or not. I had eaten before the test. About 6 hours and had a couple of Dr.Pepper's too. Anyway. My question is- Have you guys had this problem? I'm thinking I'll have to have a laporoscopic cholecystectomy (gall bladder removed) surgery. Just trying to figure out what these things are like and how the surgery is. I'm use to being the provider, not the patient. I'm sure i'll be a bad one too =).

Thanks,

Heath

I had my gall bladder blindside me several years ago. The only warning I'd had was a few bouts of discomfort I wrote off as constipation. When it really hit, it hit hard and I went to the ER and they hauled me off to surgery. Turns out I also had an umbilical hernia (like Scottwax was recently talking about) and they had to take care of it at the same time since it was in the way of doing the laproscopic surgery, so I got a 2-for-1 special. In short, I also had to have endoscopy the next day to take care of stones blocking the bile duct, then a couple days later my stitches ripped out in my belly and they had to haul me back for emergency surgery to stuff my intestines back in place. I spent 9 days in the hospital and nearly a month out of my office job. Not exactly a typical scenario, so hopefully you'll have considerably less drama. ;)

Man, I hope so. I guess it would be weird looking down at your abdomen and seeing your intestines coming out of a wound where the sutures broke. I've seen a few intestines coming out of a stomach. Not to pretty.

Cholelithiasis is a very common condition. The majority of general surgeons make most of their living removing the "gall bag". 9/10 lap choles are done flawlessly, but like most things that require skill and practice, the "devils in the details"!

The usual hospital stay is 1-2 days post-op. Laparoscopically, there are usually four, 1 cm. incisions around the abdomen. ONe incision is hidden inside the umbilicus.

Hope everything works out for you Heath, let us know how it goes after you see a Dr. on wednesday........Angelo

I didn't actually see them myself. I'd been in a LOT of pain for a day or so, using max doses of morphine hourly to take the edge off. The next morning the surgeon came in to check on me and when he took off the dressing his face went a little white and he said "Uh oh." Not a good thing when you're the patient!

No, thats not good. I bet that was pretty scary.

I'll let you know how the ultrasound goes wed.

Thanks everyone.

Well, Its official. I'm incubating a few rocks in my gall bladder. Now I've gotta get my doc to set up an appointment with a gastro surgeon. So, I may have an early Xmas present to myself =)!!

Man i need a bowl of Super Colon Blow!

Yeah, i'm pretty sure its gonna be a Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy. I'll be off work for about a week. I dont know when they'll do the procedure but i'm sure it will be soon. I'll be glad. I'm kinda sick of this abdominal tenderness in my belly. Maybe I could put them on ebay!!!! heheheh

Thanks Andrew, my friend!

You can actually cleanse your gall bladder. I don't know if it'll help you at this point but...

I had GB pains last year and the first thing I thought of was surgery. I followed the instructions on the link and am now GB pain free. I continue to do GB cleanses ever coupls of months and still get rid of more stones.

I did my cleanse with grapefruit juice.

Dr. Hulda's Liver cleanse gallbladder cleanse gallstones flush recipe

Liver cleanse and gallbladder cleanse flush NO surgery

Ingredients

1/2 CupOlive Oil Extra Virgin (= 1.25 dl)

1 Big grapefruit (2 small) (Or 3 lemons)

4 tablespoon EPSOM salts = ( MgSO4 + 7H2O)

(EPSOM salts = Magnesium Sulphate = EPSOMITE = Magnesium Sulfate Heptahydrate)

3 cups water (=750 dl)

(P.S .!! 1 cup = 250 ml = 2.5 dl = 0.25 l )

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Comment inserted by webmaster:

You can substitute 3 cups water (=750 dl) (that is used in this recipe to dissolve Epsom salt) with 3 cups freshly pressed grapefruit juice, or freshly pressed apple juice . That way you will not feel unpleasant taste of Magnesium Sulphate

( = Magnesium Sulfate = Epsom salt = MgSO4 + 7H2O) ]

[If using lemon juice, do not blend juice with oil.

Drink little oil, little juice, from 2 differnt cups.

If you mix oil and juice, it may (it doesn't happens always) sligtly congell, and get a slimy consitence that is not easy to swallow.

It may become slimy.

It never happens with grapefruit juice!]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Choose a day like Saturday for the cleanse, since you will be able to rest the next day.

Take no medicines, vitamins or pills that you can do without; they could prevent success. Stop the parasite program and kidney herbs too, the day before.

Eat a no-fat breakfast and lunch such as cooked cereal with fruit, fruit juice, bread and preserves or honey (no butter or milk), baked potato or other vegetables with salt only. This allows the bile to build up and develop pressure in the liver. Higher pressure pushes out more stones.

2:00 PM. Do not eat or drink after 2 o'clock. If you break this rule you could feel quite ill later. Get your Epsom salts ready. Mix 4 tbs. in 3 cups water and pour this into a jar. This makes four servings, 3/4 (three fourths) cup each. Set the jar in the refrigerator to get ice cold (this is for convenience and taste only).

[ You can substitute 3 cups water with 3 cups freshly pressed grapefruit juice, or freshly pressed apple juice, it tastes better .]

6:00 PM. Drink one serving 3/4 (three fourths cup) of the ice cold Epsom salts. If you did not prepare this ahead of time, mix 1 tbs. in 3/4 (three fourth) cup water now. You may add 1/8 (one eight) tsp. vitamin C powder to improve the taste. You may also drink a few mouthfuls of water afterwards or rinse your mouth. Get the olive oil (ozonated, if possible) and grapefruit out to warm up.

Alternative Schedule 1: Omit the first Epsom Slats dose at 6 p.m. Take only one dose, waiting till 8 p.m. Change nothing else. Many people still get stones with one less dose. If you do not, do the full course next time. "The Cure For HIV and AIDS" By Hulda Clark pg.585

8:00 PM. Repeat by drinking another 3/4 (three fourths) cup of Epsom salts. You haven't eaten since two o'clock, but you won't feel hungry. Get your bedtime chores done. The timing is critical for success.

9:45 PM. Pour 1/2 (half) cup (measured) olive oil into the pint jar. Add 2 drops HCl to sterilize. Wash grapefruit twice in hot water and dry; squeeze by hand into the measuring cup. Remove pulp with fork. You should have at least 1/2 (half) cup, more (up to 3/4 (three fourths) cup) is best. You may use part lemonade. Add this to the olive oil. Also add Black Walnut Tincture. Close the jar tightly with the lid and shake hard until watery (only fresh grapefruit juice does this).

Now visit the bathroom one or more time, even if it makes you late for your ten o'clock drink. Don't be more than 15 minutes late. You will get fewer stones.

10:00 PM. Drink the potion you have mixed. Take 4 ornithine capsules with the first sips to make sure you will sleep through the night. Take 8 if you already suffer from insomnia. Drinking through a large plastic straw helps it go down easier. You may use oil and vinegar salad dressing, or straight honey to chase it down between sips. Have these ready in a tablespoon on the kitchen counter. Take it all to your bedside if you want, but drink it standing up. Get it down within 5 minutes (fifteen minutes for very elderly or weak persons).

Lie down immediately. You might fail to get stones out if you don't. The sooner you lie down the more stones you will get out. Be ready for bed ahead of time. Don't clean up the kitchen. As soon as the drink is down walk to your bed and lie down flat on your back with your head up high on the pillow. Try to think about what is happening in the liver. Try to keep perfectly still for at least 20 minutes. You may feel a train of stones traveling along the bile ducts like marbles. There is no pain because the bile duct valves are open (thank you Epsom salts!). Go to sleep, you may fail to get stones out if you don't.

Next morning. Upon awakening take your third dose of Epsom salts. If you have indigestion or nausea wait until it is gone before drinking the Epsom salts. You may go back to bed. Don't take this potion before 6:00 am.

2 Hours Later. Take your fourth (the last) dose of Epsom salts. You may go back to bed again.

Alternative Schedule 2: After taking the first dose of Epsom salts in the morning, wait two hours and take a second dose of the oil mixture (but only 1/2 cup)and go back to bed. After two more hours take another dose of Epsom salts. This schedule can increase the number of stones you remove."

After 2 More Hours you may eat. Start with fruit juice. Half an hour later eat fruit. One hour later you may eat regular food but keep it light. By supper you should feel recovered.

I'm currently working with two women in the office who both had their gallbladders removed through keyhole surgery. They were out of work for about 4 weeks, as although you 'feel' like you could prolly run a marathon, you still have to be careful.

Get those feet up and enjoy a nice loooong Christmas bud. I hope all goes well ;)

I don't know about you but I'd keep my GB for as long as you can. :nervous2: Its there for a reason.

Believe it or not, they reckon the gallbladder is one off the most useless things we have (apart from man-nipples, off course).

All they do is remove it, and link the two pipes together.

BTW. The two girls I work with who had it done had no problems during the surgery, and after the surgery. So fingers crossed for you

Its there for a reason otherwise it wouldn't be there. No?

What Does The Gall Bladder Do?

The Gall Bladder is a storage vessel for liver bile. It acts as a reservoir for holding bile on its way from the liver to the intestines.

GALLBLADDER FUNCTION

Bile is continually being made and secreted by the liver into bile ducts in varying amounts.(1) Some of it goes directly into the small intestine and some into the gallbladder. The gallbladder stores the bile to be squirted down the ducts into the small intestine to help to breakdown the fats when you eat a meal that contains fats. It also acts as a reservoir that uptakes excess bile when there is pressure in the bile ducts.

BILE FUNCTION

The bile has two major functions in the body. Firstly, it breaks down the fats that you eat so that your body can utilize them. Without adequate bile you do not metabolize your fats well which can result in a deficiency of the fat-soluable vitamins (A, D, E and K). You may also have problems digesting the essential fatty acids. Amongst other symptoms you could have trouble utilizing calcium, have dry skin, peeling on the soles of your feet, etc. One way you can tell you have trouble digesting fats is if you have excessive burping that starts shortly after eating a meal that has fat in it. You might feel nauseous or experience gas and bloating. Often the bile is thick and you can thin it out with The Beet Recipe which you can find here under gallbladder diet, or with a whole food beet product found in the GALLBLADDER STARTER KIT on this site.

Secondly, bile is a very powerful antioxidant which helps to remove toxins from the liver. The liver filters toxins (bacteria, viruses, drugs or other foreign substances the body doesn't want) and sends them out via the bile, which is made in the liver. The pathway of departure is from the liver through the bile ducts and into the gallbladder or directly into the small intestine where it joins waste matter and leaves through the colon with the feces. A healthy liver produces about a quart to a quart and a half of bile daily. If you have gallbladder problems, you would do well to cleanse your liver and bowel also. Many people with sluggish gallbladders have a tendency towards constipation.

One part of your body I think there is NO use for would be the Apendix. I had appendicitis and it's long gone.:heelclick

What is the function of appendix ?

During first few year of the life appendix functions as part of the immune system, but after that it no longer has any known function.

Same here... They hurt like hell when they give you problems too!!!

Good Luck with your surgery Heath...

I remember reading an article somewhere about the appendix. They think there is a use for it. Something to do with bacteria in the large intestines iirc.

Got an appoitment to see a gastro-surgeon on wed Dec 12th. I guess we'll decide then when they're gonna take it out.

I've read that even though you get your gall bladder removed you can still have gall stones. Oh happy day!
