Freshly Painted 1st time wax and polish

Hello,

I got my car back from Maaco and the new paint looks real nice. I have to wait till it cures but I have a few noobie questions for the members here. Since I only had a couple areas repainted ( hood, trunk and one door)the remaining areas need some major polishing help. I am saving to get a PC polisher kit and the Wolfgang swirl and finish glaze. I plan on hitting these areas with the swirl remover.

My questions are : Should I just wax the newly painted spots? They look good without any defects I can see. I will follow the instructions I have gotten from you all here about the pads and waxes. Is there some kind of sealer / polish I need to apply after the wax job? Any recommendations?

FWIW the car is a Ford Performance White so it doesn't look too swirly unless you catch the light just right. One last question I see some faint lace like lines in the paint on the areas that are not newly painted. Is this gonna go away after compounding? I don't want to get too aggressive to start. However I still want to make the car look as good as I can. Since I have never done this before I am certainly asking some questions that are noobie influenced. But I did warn you...:D:D.

So my plans are as follows:

Paint the chips on the car that remain.
Wait the appropriate time before detailing ( 30 days).
Wash the car, compound the non new painted areas to eliminate or reduce swirls and scratches.
Wax the car (and seal)?? If I need to seal it what is recommended?

Is this the correct method? Or did I miss a step?
Thanks for any replies.

P.S. I will post before and after pix when I can.

The Wolfgang twins are not a very aggressive compound or glaze. The glaze actually has a cleaner in it, any way they are not aggressive enough to worry about being too aggressive. As far as a sealer if you want to spend the money you might as well get the Wolfgang sealer also or just use another sealer of choice. I would recommend using an orange pad with the WTSR and a white pad with the glaze and either a red or blue with the sealer or you can do it be hand.

I would wait the correct amount of time, and then cleanse and polish all panels in the same manner.

Wait the 30-90 days that is needed before you use any compound or polish on it. But you can use Meguiar’s #7 Show Car Glaze to add some type of protection till you can polish and seal the car.

Thanks for the replys. Maaco said 30 days before waxing. I plan on compounding the areas that have not been painted to try and fix the appearence.

I was asking to get clarification as to what steps and the correct order. Another stupid question is : Do I need to seal it? Will the wax be enough? As you can tell I am new to this.

I'd wait to do the whole car.

steps,

wash ,clay, wash,
Polish with heavy cut
Polish with light cut.
(jewel with mild cut) this is unnecessary but you could do it
Seal with sealent
wax with wax after sealent cure
wash car and use a spray wax booster for next month

Polish if necessary(light polish to keep gloss with AIO )

Sealing vs waxing is up to you, its a personal preference thing. A lot of people put sealant on and top it off with wax. Sealant usually gives you better durability while wax usually gives you a warmer wetter looking shine imo.

Any suggestions on wax? Is spray wax any good , or should I get a paste? It's a white car so dirt shows up pretty bad. FWIW I picked up Meg's Cay Bar Kit today. I need to get my wax, wheel cleaner and one more bucket, I should be ready to go. I will get my PC next week. Then it will be up to Mother Nature.

She gives me 3 days of warmish weather and I should be good to go.
