Hey guys,
Was working on a Mercedes in the garage last night. It was over 100 degrees outside and more than that in the garage. I am using a FLEX 3401 and had finished the top of the car and turned the FLEX off to get more polish. When I went to switch it back on....nothing!! Let it sit for a minute and it came back on. This happened a couple times and then I hopped on here and talked to Holden.
I looked up a few posts about thermal shutdown and there was nothing concrete about it. Only that it's a possibility....kinda like the LochNess Monster.....LOL!!
So I go back out....fired it up and make a concerted effort NOT to apply any pressure to the FLEX at all while polishing. Just holding in place and letting the pad do the work. This seemed to make a huge difference! It didn't shut down anymore that night at all.
So.....has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions on how to keep it from happening again? (other than not applying pressure) I found something about people changing out the brushes on other machines with good success.....is that an option on the 3401?
Thanks in advance!!
