Okay, anyone who has ever gon to NYC has seen this on a towncar. You know, the nasty super orange peel paint. Lucky me, my BMW has the metal sunroof and trunklid painted this way. I currently have the means to have a BMW approved shop repaint it. The colour is a few shades off, but that is beside the point. What car I do to fix this? I was thinking rubbing compound followed by polish with a P/C 7336. The main problem is that the orange peel is so much it makes for low gloss, not a detailers dream. I suppose wet sanding might be a possiblility, but I haven't a clue of the paint thinkness ( I don't have a thicknesss meter). the other problem is medium to heavy oxidation of the rest of the car, which I believe can be polished out, along with the mass of swirls. Opinions please. Also note: I have only a small amount of detailing experience.
