First time with rotary

Well I got my Makita from kleraudio(jim) who is an amazing person! I finally got to try it out today. All I have to say is that this machine is no joke. It is the perfect rotary. I am currently doing my uncles car that sits in the driveway all day/night. He don't care for it and just wants it sold. He said "go at it" when I left. I don't know what year, but its an older, and smaller size Toyota corrola.

I figured since I am in the middle of polishing it; I would post some 50/50's and post final results later. I am not going for perfection on this car. I did SIP on orange and finished up with XMT 360 to remove any holograms left.

Sorry for the crappy pics. It was at night and no garage lighting and I was using a some poopy Kodak Easy Share camera.

Any tips on how to use the rotary, throw it my way! :thx

WOWWWWW... thats GREAT results! Did you get the 9227c makita? This isnt your first time using a rotary is it? If it is, then i hope that when i get my 1st rotary i am as skilled and yeild the results you have!

You gotta watch out with finishing with the orange pad, unless you have an insanely hard clearcoat you will get holograms unless you go over it with a LC blue or Edge 2000 white afterwards.

Holograms to me look uglier than swirls.

Please wipe the car off with a 50/50 and post some sun shots. I am not trying to be a jerk, as it looks like you have the basics down, but in the sun I think you might be shocked by your results, espcially if its your first time.

TH0001, I know I have holograms, But its in certain spots and I will apply some 106ff to those spots. But like I said, I didn't go for perfection due to the fact I am going at a faster pace then normal. And plus there are still some scratches and some swirls left because my uncle don't care for the car and it basically sits in the drive way. I am using this car as a practice car. Hopefully you'll be impressed when I get some sun shots; even though there will be some swirls/scratch remaining.:wall

Yes, I did get the makita 9227.

UPDATE: Well I did half the car to remove remaining holograms. I used xmt 360 strictly for this purpose. I didn't use it to remove defects because once again; my uncle just has this car sit in the driveway.:grinno:

I agree, on a PC you might be able to finish with orange/SIP without holograms, but on a rotary its not going to happen.

I updated. I finished with XMT 360 on LC white pad to remove any remaining holograms.:cooleek:

Also, Picus finishes with SIP/ORANGE on rotary. But then again, hes amazing. Lol:bow

SIP/Orange *will* finish down without holograms on average to hard clears, I've done it a number of times. It's all in the speeds, spread at 600, jump to 1600-1700, then slowly dial it back down to 1200. I always wipe with isa:water and silicone bath.

stiffdogg06 listen to the rotary masters and you will get better with your new toy from Jim. Wish i could have brought it from him, but will have to wait till next yr for more toys. Enjoy your new rotary!:xyxthumbs

You can finish hologram free with orange and SIP. Though I never finish with it as I love the LC blue and black pads and 106FF, when I go back to 800 - 900 rpm method for 30 sec to one minute, with my 9227, it comes up crystal clear.

Great work though stiffman.

To me, Kleraudio came across as being just what you posted, amazing.

Heck everyone is special and amazing. Its just that some people keep looking for faults in people and not their good points.

I prefer to find the good points. everyone has them

I am certain that with time, you will put an insane shine on the cars you do with your god given talents.

:2thumbs:

Thank you SVR for the kind words!

I am currently doing a 1998 Chrysler Sebring. I will post that click N' Brag tomorrow. :chuckle:

Yeah I am doing what Kevin (picus) told me to do awhile back. Pyramid the polish. Spread at 600 rpm go up to 1500-1800rpm and then work back down to 1000-1200rpms. :waxing:

No worries buddy. I'm making a goal in life to encourage and help people to see their true potential.

Picus is a legend in my eyes and his word is gold.
