Finally used my sample of the new Optimum Coating

I understand why they are limiting it, i hope i can get my hands on it "somehow" though :p

How many times do you read product X was so hard to remove, or product Y only last 2 weeks or all products look the same. Mostly down to user error or not reading instructions.

So easy to have a product with a bad rep. before it even gets out in every online shop.

My sample is 6 months old and still seems to work fine. The sprayer is clogged though, hence the syringe packaging. My understanding is that will greatly improve the shelf life.

You're lucky, Scott.

Mine gelled up after a just a couple of weeks, and although I was able to use a bit from it wiping on an applicator, the rest went solid.

Yes, I know about the syringe change, we'll see.

It is still unclear how as a business owner I can get this product, is there a check list I have to pass off before I can buy it?

Cheers,

GREG

I have a sample that dates back over 6 months, and it still is liquid. When Dr. G told me of the products dislike for humidity, and air has lots of that here, I took all of my product and put it in syringes(if you think it's a good packaging idea, thank me, if you hate it, then it's still my fault). As long as you purge the air out of the syringe after use, the shelf life should be quite long. In teh little spray bottles, it was a pain, with clogged sprayers, and a white crust on teh outside.

I stored my spray in a ziplock bag and I put the pag into a vacuum sealed plastic box. The one that has a valve on its top and you have to push the top to let the majority of the air out.

I guess the shelf life will be better in the syringes, but we still can store them in a pump-vacuum box (all air can be emptied), and seal the individual syringes with a vacuum sealer (food/kitchen type).

Will this hold up to public "tunnel" carwashing? Or must it be handwashed gently?

Holding up for me using the coin-op soap or whatever is on sale at Pep Boys. I have not been using ONR at all on my car but washing it conventionally-and I hate washing my car like that. However, with ONR, I'd never really know if the beading was falling off.

Any comments regarding resistance to swirling?

I didn't polish my paint perfect before using it but I haven't noticed anything new. No bird bombs have made it through and I am leaving them on until I was the car again so sometimes they sit up to a week on the paint. I also have it on my headlights. As those who deal with Infiniti/Nissan headlight know, the plastic is very prone to oxidizing. I have to polish mine at least 5-6 times a year to keep them clear. Only been a few weeks since I applied the coating to the headlights so it will be a little while still before I know if it helps them resized hazing.

Scott,

Used my new Opt. products today on a black Lexus SUV. I am SO happy with this product line! I did not even use high speed and the difference was incredible- customer also has 11 yr. old convert. BMW limited ed. and has never let anyone touch it until today. He was blown away and is donating his custom garage for my picture gallery! Anyway, I used the compound, polish, and wax. I taped off a few sections to see what would be best---even the PoliSeal side was almost as good as the 2 step side. All surface scratches were gone as was slight haze and the color was very rich and deep! Once I get me Dynabrade attachment for the Makita, I will test the Hyper with new pads.

I have seen the new seal applied and seen surfaces that it was used on and it works thus far...very, very well.

The opti-coat has been released to dealers. I have used it on a car and boat. It is a great product. Leaves a nice finish.

I was wondering why you were selling the rest of your sample though?

Scott - any chance we could get another video update please? I'd love to see how its doing after almost 7 months on your car please

My car is still beading fine. Not necessarily sure mine will end up being the best test for the product since I applied it without polishing the paint or removing any old wax that might have still remained but who knows? I'll try to get a video some time next week, looks as if this week will be a washout weather-wise.

I got in my first syringe (that's how it comes now) so I am looking forward to using it on a few of my customer's cars. I might not yet charge the full price I expect the product will bring because I don't have any warranty to give them.

What I will be doing the next time I use the coating is after polishing I will follow with an ONR wash to be sure there are no polishing oils left on the paint. I want to make sure that I get the best application to ensure the coating will bond properly for maximum longevity.

Scott, why won't you "have any warranty to give them" and aren't you concerned about what ONR will leave behind, since I thought that's why you weren't using that on your personal test car? Or are you going to do an IPA wipe after the wash?

The official warranty isn't available yet.

The reason I haven't been using ONR on my car is that the polymers in ONR will keep my car beading whether or not the coating is holding up, not because it would interfere with the bonding. No way to tell for sure if the coating is making the car bead or the ONR washes.
