If you happen to see your deliveries in your shrubs or bushes, I don't know anything about it :cooleek:

Setec Astronomy said:...Not saying that this new product isn't the best sealant ever...
Bence said:It's not a sealant. It's a coating.
Setec Astronomy said:Sheesh, I'm just saying, before everyone dubs this a 3-year COATING, let's get a report that doesn't come from an employee of the company.

Scottwax said:I'm not an employee but I haven't had it long enough to make any kind of assumptions about it other than it looks really good and the paint is very slick.
Setec Astronomy said:Hi Scott, I was referring to the quoted longevity that someone dragged in from a post on the Optimum forum from your "neighbor" who I believe actually gets some sort of paycheck from Optimum, rather than just doing some beta testing. I know that in your neck of the woods (and perhaps where Optimum is located as well) you seem to get much better longevity of LSP's than we get up here in the salt/acid rain belt. Besides which, since this is a product in development, do we even have a reasonable expectation that the test formula put on 3 years ago is anywhere near what is close to sale? Remember the whole NXT/lab formula whatever debacle (a bit before my time here).
BTW, Scott, I find your reviews to be the most pragmatic and honest of just about anyone on here, clearly unvarnished and from the perspective of someone who has to make a living with the products. I am just trying to temper expectations because I remember far too well the Z-CS pre-release feeding frenzy.
Scottwax said:Mike-I can certainly understand where you are coming from concerning hype and possible motives of testers. As to what changes have been made since the very early versions and how that may or may not impact durability, I have no idea. I believe the test sample I have is what will be the product version. The hold-up on releasing it seems to be mostly due to trying to find the best, most goof-proof application method. Right now, there doesn't seem to be a standard method that everyone testing it long term has agreed upon. With a rollout of a product that makes the claims it does and is going to cost a lot more than what most of use are used to pay for sealant type products, getting it right the first time is paramount. I think everyone has learned from the initial roll-out of NXT. I hope.
Ron and Anthony are in San Antonio, which is about 250 miles from me and Optimum is headquartered in Memphis, TN.
I appreciate the comments out my testing of products. I realize that when I or someone like Todd, Josh, Rick, Ryan, etc has good results with a product that others will be interested in trying it as well. Last thing I want to do is pump up a very average product and have people waste their money. I know I don't want to waste my money either. That is the reason it took me a while to try Meguiars #105. At $90 a gallon, it isn't cheap. I waited until I saw the results of people I respect before making the decision to purchase it.
In addition, I think it is important for testers to give honest feedback to whoever they are testing for. One shouldn't worry about hurt feelings on the part of the product developer with constructive criticism. Hurting their ego temporarily is a lot better than blowing sunshine up their skirt and having them release a product that isn't ready.
I would agree that the general weather here and lack of heavy industry does play a roll in getting better durability. However, I'm not moving anywhere with cold, snowy weather in the winter and fallout and acid rain the rest of the year to test products in harsher conditions. :nana:
What I will do though, is put the coating on my brother's Odyssey. He runs it through tunnel washes 2-3 times a month. Other than that, he does nothing. No QDs, no wax, nothing.
wannafbody said:I really wish someone would come out with a product that could be applied by hand, bond permanently and multiple coats would fill micromarring, scratches and etching. Maybe that's technologically impossible:nixweiss
Lumadar said:Again, would love to think we can gain access to a "coating" that lasts years...but my better judgment is keeping me from holding my breath on this one. :doh
Setec Astronomy said:But we do have access to a coating like that...it's called paint, and I'm guessing it's a lot more durable than the new Optimum product.
Scottwax said:True, but then why wax or seal the paint at all? The more durable the sacrificial barrier covering the paint, the better.
