Don't forget the lifts and all other items to assist you.
It's a great time now as most leases are low and as long as you can bring them in, you'll do really well.
Make sure it's spotless and stays that way to show your customers you care. A clean shop with correct lighting, flooring, lifts etc can bring word of mouth to you as well.
I shut down my shop years ago due to high overhead and because every person that had a PC and Meguiars in the back of a car called themselves "detailers" (some are very talented) which undercut everyones price. No overhead, insurance, payroll etc is what drove many of us to close.
You HAVE to show the area not only your ability, but how well the shop looks, any high-tech devices, personal attention, and very well marketed advertising will bring them in even in this economy.
People want to hold on to cars longer, and you want to help those wishing to make them look better for not a whole lot of cash. You could be the next Earl Schibe.
