Fantasy Football?

Does anyone know what the waiver number stands for? I know it's just the draft order in reverse, but I was wondering if it had any significance.

Scott tried explaining it to me. It has something to do with how you can pick up free agents but we aren't using waivers. I think the worst team would have first choice of any free agent.

Ok I am a terrible fantasy owner I guess. In my other league I had Kevin Curtis and Donovan McNabb starting the first 2 weeks and they did nothing  and looked awful. So this week I trade McNabb for Tom Brady and I bench Kevin Curtis. @@^#^#@!!

Well needless to say they are both having the best game of their lives and it's only the first half!!!!!:wall:wall:wall

In traditional fantasy football leagues, waivers are used to disperse free agents each week. Our league here does not use the waiver system since it was not enabled during the league set-up. From the help section of Yahoo on your team page:

How do waivers work?

All players dropped from a team's roster are immediately placed on waivers. During this waiver period—two days in Public Leagues and anywhere from zero to seven days in Custom Leagues—anyone in the league can place a claim on the player.

So, if a player in a Public League is dropped on a Wednesday afternoon, all managers can place a claim on him until Friday at 11:59 p.m. PT. The player is then assigned to the new team roughly 4-8 hours after the claim deadline.

To find the length of the waiver period in your league, check the League Settings page, which can be found via a link on your League Overview page.

If more than one manager claims the same player, the team that's highest on the Waiver Priority List is given the rights to the player.

The priority list is initially set based on the reverse of the draft order. However, each time a team is awarded a player via waivers, that team is pushed to the back of the list.

If you're viewing the waiver priority list after a player has been processed, the team with the lowest priority (12 in a 12-team league, 10 in a 10-team league, etc.) is the team that was most recently awarded a player.

Your current position on the waiver priority list is displayed in a column along with your league standings.

If nobody claims a player during the waiver period, he becomes a free agent. In a Custom League with no waiver period, all dropped players automatically become free agents.

If you place a player on waivers, you cannot reclaim that player until after the waiver period has expired.

If you place a claim on more than one waived player at a time, each pending transaction appears on your Team Page along with its current position in your waiver order. All new claims get appended to the end of the list, but you can alter this priority by viewing each pending claim and changing its priority in the box provided.

Well, it looks like starting Indy's defense netted me 1 more point than I would have gotten with Chicago's D. And to my surprise, I actually have a chance against Gearhead's team. I thought that it was going to be a loss for sure after I saw the numbers McNabb put up. I just need Colston to have a few catches with 30 or so yards to put me over the top. Too bad I'll be asleep during the game.

Pretty ugly performance by my team. I believe all but 3 picks turned in sub estimated performances. I don't deserve to luck this one out. Maybe Colston will get hit hard on his first play and spend the night on the sideline. That's about my only chance.

Yeah, neither of our teams did very well. As of now, only 5 of my players either met or exceeded their projections. I just need Colston to get 6.95 points and I'll be happy. At least you got to see McNabb on his game and he definitely shows promise in the weeks to come. I have some pretty big issues in the weeks to come with some bye games coming up and not so many players to plug those holes.

Well if Drew wakes up like Donovan did this week. I might be able to take down Dave this week.:dnaughty

That McNabb trade was really bringing me down during the first half yesterday. but after the smoke cleared I made out just fine. My trade in the other league was Donovan McNabb and Steven Jackson for Tom Brady and Ronnie Brown.

Ronnie Brown had his best game ever so I felt pretty good about that one. We will see if Steven Jackson ever gets going. I'm banking on him not having a very good season. Bulger looked really bad yesterday and Steven needs more from his team than I think they can give for him to do well this year.

Ronnie Brown on the other hand, I just have a feeling about Trent Green being good for Miami and Ronnie Brown.

I wouldn't worry about the Mcnabb trade based solely on this one game. Brady is by far a better QB with a great weapon in Moss. Mcnabb has been injury ridden and has had accuracy issues for years. While detroit was 2-0 going into that game, it was still Detroit.

St. Louis has been shocking, I expected them to be a playoff team but they are playing worst the my Giants are.

Hey audiboy, Don't think I didn't notice that you voted against me this week. :wow:

I see how it is. Just for that I'm telling Brees to keep it away from Colston.:bigups

Nothing against you at all Troy. I just haven't seen your team do too much and was taking a chance on the other team. Please tell Brees to give it to Colston as much as possible. Someone has to take down the giant while he's weakened.

Drew, Drew, Drew.... you can't win with 4 int's and a fumble.:wall

and thanks Reggie for dropping that ez td pass.:wall

The Duece let me down. Lost by two points:mad:

But I guess when I look at it, my opponent had a fellow that did not even get any points.

This fantasy league has certainly energized my interest in the NFL. Here is to all the league members that joined. :howdy:D:thanks

My team sucked tailpipe exhaust. My bottom three perfomers killed me. In fact my bottom 3 players added together were 7 points behind Audi's bottom 2 players added together. Don't know what the heck motivated me to pick San Diego for a defense. 1 point? I laugh. My players wear skirts.

Well, it looks like Colston gave me just enough to squeek by. I was sure that I was going to lose this week after I saw the numbers McNabb put up. I guess this is what makes fantasy football so much fun and interesting.
