exterior plastics and trim

ALL DRESSINGS MUST BE REMOVED before application.

You wouldn't try to paint over a dressing would you?

303 is an amino functional siloxane resin based dressing.

Once the ETR application has dried for 24 hours, you can put a water borne dressing (like 303) on top of it, but you won't need to, not for years.

Cool thanks. I just meant in general, not with these lifetime kits.

Would u guys recommend making the investment and putting this stuff on a brand new cars trim? Or just keep it protected with the typical dressings.

....in either case it is important that the surface is free of all products prior to the application of the CG or UVG when used alone.

I could see using the UVG alone for components that are already in new/already restored condition. I would assume it would last longer than something like C4. My only concern might be how some finishes might be altered (i.e. added gloss) with the UVG. ....I'll let Ron speak to that since I really haven't tried it alone on trim yet (although I likely will).

Personally, I prefer using selants over dressings but I am quickly converting to permanent/semi-permanent solutions. I haven't had to "dress the trim on my Challenger for months since I applied C4. ....which I also have on bits along with Opti-Coat on the rest of my wife's Forester.

I wouldn't do either. I'd just use some LSP-based approach, or the C4/OptiCoat.

Opti coat will just leave it looking "undressed" correct? And then a dressing can be put over it? And opticoat doesn't turn white on trim?

so here is the deal....for cars like xterras, jeeps, etc with a lot of plastic black trim, I need a more durable product if one exists. Right now my process is the following:

wash, deep clean, hit with either 303 or megs hyper (temp looks).

is there something out there that will last a lot longer than 303 and add some color?????

check out Protex Brand Restore-X Hard Plastic Rejuvenator - Home

It is a Hard Plastic Rejuvenator for Xterras, Jeeps, Avalanches, as you mentioned.

It lasts at least 6 months with one application. Easy on, repels water, light luster, last and lasts. Comparison videos to Mothers and Meguires products too.
