Durability of #16 caompared to # 26

Hi blackcaraddict, can't wait for you to post your review on #26. Presently I have #16 and pretty happy with the look it creates on my car but it seems like the general comments here is #26 looks better. So would like to see you car with #26 and your comments on #26 as compare to #16.

#26 is better if you want a deep look with less reflection. If you want a wet, reflective look, then #16 is better. It's all about what look you're trying to get.

Wow- that's quite the statement, Mosca! How does one quantify something of that magnitde?

Tom has a red car and #26 is about as good as Souveran on non-metallic red. Real rich, deep glow. :)

Just an observation..........I'd be willing to bet a T-Bone Steak on the fact that most Autopians using a carnauba wax tend to wax quite frequently. I know when I'm in "carnauba mode" I wax my daily driver ( 05 black tacoma ) every 2 weeks. I've got Z5/Z2 Pro on the "BlkTac05" currently & I can hardly control the "inner carnauba" in me from running out and applying a coat of Souveran,P21S or #26 on her. So for me, durability of carnaubas aren't really a factor. IMO, it comes down to what look pleases you most. As we all know, looks are completely subjective. My vote goes to the Meg's #26!!

I have 3 jars of Souveran that I rarely use any more, and I'm almost out of my only can of #26 and getting another.

#26 was the very first Meguiar's wax/sealant that I used as an Autopian. I'd used nothing but Souveran until then, and I only wanted to use #26 as a "baseline" to have to compare other products to. I did a quick prep with Menzerna FP, and then #26'd the car. The next morning when I looked at it, I started giggling, it looked so good. Since then, either #26 or Souveran, over #7 is my go-to wax for when I want to impress people, when I want to "pull their eyes out" with my car.

#16 for me looks like all those other carnaubas. I like it. But why use it if it's not special?

Mystickid is using it on black. The #16 is going to put a reflection on his car, and make it look shiny. The #26 is going to make it look blacker. If he likes the reflections, then my opinion will be worthless to him!

All in the Autopian spirit of "if it looks good to you that's what really matters",

Tom

Is it me or does the #16 give a similar appearence to the P21S? The #26 gives a similar appearance to the Souveran. Just my 2 cents......

Hey Mosca, I saw your post on the Autozone clearance thread. You're the biggest proponent of #26 that I know and it looks like PA is the only state where Autozone does not have #26 on clearance. THAT JUST SEEMS WRONG!!:down

I think most people will agree with what you just said. I remember reading an old thread comparing #16 and P21S. If I recall correctly, most people agreed that the big difference was the ease of application and removal. P21S had a big edge in that department, but it became negligent if you were able to put a thin film of #16.

Mosca,

I highly value your positive opinion on # 26. I've been Roaming around on the threads pertaining to # 26 and every seems to mention how its an excellent depth enhancer especially on BLACK and other dark cars.

My car already reflects pretty well, but I want that rich pitch black deepness which i think you know i'm going for. I don't have the (moolah $$) for souveran at the moment but in my opinion I think #26 is *my* Souveran.

Oh yeah, I didn't even think about using #7 before it. I'm gonna try it out as son as i get my digital camera and then I'll post pix. i have a feeling that good prep + #7-->#26 is gonna killer awaesome on my black camry.

Don't get me wrong......I love the P21S. And yes, It's easier to apply/remove than the #16...............but the Meg's#26 was my "first love". It was my go to carnauba for years before I found the Souveran & P21S. I still have 2 tins of #26 in my "Treasure Chest". They do a great job of keeping my cans of Souveran & P21S company!

********mystickid*******

You'll pitch a tent with that #7/#26 combo on black! I used to use that combo on my black 86 Iroc. ( back in the day ) Try 2 or 3 coats of the #26! STUNNING!!!!

Yeah, how about that, termigator; just wrong!

One thing: I never toss a product, and I never sell one. If I have something that I think is good, but not for me, I usually part it out and send samples to people who ask about it in threads. Sometimes I'll send most of a can or a bottle, if I'm feeling generous and looking for shelf space. I gave away a whole bunch of stuff last month, and I still have waaaaaay too much. If I have something that I think is not very good, I give it to co-workers and non-Autopia n family. I have a whole can of (old formula) Gold Class that I'll never use; I'm going to give it to my brother in law.

IMO, these waxes are all essentially the same in appearance:

Mother's Cal Gold Natural Carnauba

Natty's

#16

P21S

S100

Meg's DC Step 3

Collinite

I've had all of them, and sent them to Autopians. Of them all, my favorite are definitely the Natty's and the Mother's, for the smell, ease of use, and superior jetting. My least favorite is the Collinite, the Marque d'Elegance. I think it's the product I was most disappointed in, out of everything I've ever tried... probably because I had high hopes for it. The other three I put in the middle; very good, but I won't use them because I have other products I prefer.

Remember, though, that parsing the difference between products is highly subjective. You kind of have to want to find a difference. When I used to listen critically to stereo equipment, I could pretty much get the sound right with statistically signifigant accuracy. I've found that when I report what I see, others will say that they see the same thing... but if we like different things then we will disagree!

I once waxed half my car with #16 and half with #26, and I asked a dozen people, not if they could see a difference from half to half...

I asked if they could tell, did I do the split left to right, or front to back?

Only one person, a wholesaler who made his living taking old cars and rehabilitating them for auction, got it 100% right, that it was left to right and the passenger side was definitely darker and deeper looking. No one else could see the difference. Bob wanted to know what I used, and when I told him he knew what I was talking about.

BlkTac05-I know what you mean! I tend to layer carnaubas every few weeks on my own car. You get 5-6 coats on and it has a super rich glow. Reflections are decent but not super sharp but I love the depth too much to care.

******Scottwax******

As you advertise..........Reflection is nothing without depth! I simply love using a quality carnauba wax. It really is my "look of choice". I start drooling around 3 coats of (pick one) Souveran,P21S or #26! I think I need a carnauba fix! the only problem is......I've got Z5 x 3 & Z2 Pro x3 topped with Z8 on my truck right now. I might have to break my rule & try the Souveran on top of the Zaino.

Tom

About a month ago I put a coat of Mothers Natural Formula on one of our cars again just so I could smell it for awhile, when I woke up the next morning and looked at the car in she sunshine and had forgotten how much gloss it has to it. On Sat. I detailed a red pickup with #80 followed with #26. It provides a stunning wet glowing look. On monday two people I work with that saw the pickup asked how much I would charge to do thier cars. Unfortunatey they didn't like my answer, I think ther were hoping for me to say something like $20.00

Check Autozone in PA again. Last week it was $4.99 but this week I picked up 2 tubs of #26 for 99 cents each.

OMG :shocked

Man, That is sooo awesome. I would've bought every can of the paste for 99 cents. I wish that price were at my Autozone ;) .
