Hey guys,

listen i was wonderin, for all the window/door seals and other areas, what would be best to use on them? Megs Tyre shine, or baby oil? or any other product?

303 Aerospace Protectant. It won't give you a crazy shine, but will be the best choice for preserving the seals.

I use Poorboy's Natural Look. I am happy with the appearance. I really need to try the 1Z Gummipflege product.

I have a convertible and therefore lots of rubber (on the vehicle that is).

I use BMW gummiphledge - very cheap and an excellent product. Just ask for it at the nearest BMW dealership.

GM makes a silicone emulsion for rubber door seals and its economical, works great and lasts. I have a bottle in the shop if anyone wants the pt # . Keeps the seals soft and helps prevent squeaks and freezing. The part I like is you apply and rub in so no residue on clothes.

a wise man once said to use rubbing alcohol (had a high falutin reason as well), dress with what you want (no silicone oils)

There is good silicones "What is a "good" silicone? Look for the one of the siloxane or amino functional family" Prolly quoted by the same wise man .. RK

I’ve used (and still) use 303 on seals. However, the BMW stuff“gummipfledge (spelling???) is significantly better. To make an analogy with lubricants, the 303 is like WD-40, and the BMW stuff is like a grease. WD-40 will stop a squeak, but the grease is the “right way to fix the problem.

The only drawback of the BMW product is that it is greasy (well, at least the way I use itI don’t like to wipe it off hardly at all). I will use 303 for concours, where you want a clean, dry OEM look.

Wurth makes a product VERY similar to the Gummi/1Z products. A search on Gummi* oughta bring up my posts on it. *I* like it the best. It's kept the seals on my XJS good for 19 years now, and I haven't been NEARLY as conscientious as I should've been about applying it regularly :o

Wurth products are available all over the world.

Weird..... as read your response I noticed Mr Reinhold Wurth the ceo of Wurth GMBH is scheduled to be in my class this week. Im sure he would love to hear how people talk about his product, maybe some free samples.......hmmmmmmm:rolleyes:

these three each have their unique characteristics. If you want to keep it real simple, get the 1Z product. It's nice, it's light and it doesn't seem to make a mess if you brush against it when entering the vehicle. you should be able to find it in the UK.
