My parents have a vehicle that I absolutely hate to wash (Navigator). The reason is that I cannot effectively get the top of the truck without worrying that I am going to fall on my keester by climbing on the running boards and the tires. I need to know who makes a very strong stepladder for tasks like that.
Does anyone else hate this time of year?

Home Depot has some strong two step foot stool ladders that are great for this sort of thing.
Just be sure and use some duct tape and dense foam, wrap around all areas that could come in contact with the finish so as to have some protection.
We use these in the shops, seems the shorter fellows were cutting 55 gallon plastic drums down and turning them over to use, they kept stepping off them, they tipped, etc.
In todays business enviorment, work comp claims can put you out of business.

Guess you will have to visit them and find out, I don't keep all that in my head.

Get some stilts they work nice 
Go to a place that sells ladders and step stools and try them out. I would get some of the oversized step stools (they make them in 4 or 5 steps now) really sturdy cause a very wide base and you can put your bucket on the top shelf. Then you could use it for other purposes like doing stuff around the outide of your home, etc.

Don, that is my actual shopping list for the items I am getting to clean the Maxima. Since the tax rebate check is coming, I am going to order it all.
On the stepladders question, the reason I asked is that I do weigh in the neighborhood of 350 lbs. The last stepladder I used to clean the truck, I wound up breaking it.

My PC goes to 7...
I bought a plastic two-step stool from Wal Mart to get to the top of my truck. I like it better than a ladder because the stepping surfaces are larger. To see a pic, go to http://www.rubbermaid.com and do a search for "stool", you will get a few listings. I bought the "Two-Step Step Stool" (they also have a folding 2-step stool, but the stepping surface is smaller).

I like that since I am now doing the 2 bucket method of washing my car. But my concern is how much weight it can hold.

Check out Grainger.com.Look under material handling>ladders.I know they have 1A platform ladders which are rated at 300lbs.Not sure if they have anything rated higher or not.Since you live in the Chicago area there should be a location pretty close to you if you need to pick up a free catalog.Hope this helps JB.

I find this time of year to be majorly depressing. In the north east it is a bit on the chilly side to detail without a garage and it gets dark at 4:30 in the afternoon. The boat is out of the water so I can't use that. There is no snow on the ground so I cannot go snowmobiling. I really need to find a hobby for the down season, I do not do well sitting still. I was contemplating buying 4x4 atv's to go riding up north but its hunting season so you would have to be kinda careful. Anyone one else hate this season?
