Detailing of a 1987 Guards Red Carrera

Anthony great job. What do you charge for a job like this? How long did it take you? What was your tire dressing?

Hey Thanks!

I charge anywhere between $300 to $400 for a job like this. It took me a bit longer than usual as I took some time out to talk with Jason, who is a real cool guy and aspiring detailer. Also my buffer cord shorted out so I had to take it apart and re-wire the cord.

The tire dressing is Hi-Temps Grape Tire Dressing. I like the stuff but it can get a bit glossy. I used it because the glossy look would look much better on this car.

69stang,

Yeah Guards Red is an awesome color........when it matches:eek:

I wish to thank all for the compliments. This detail was a real pain but at the same time a real challenge and a joy to complete.

Awesome job man!:up :up Looks more like fun than work! :D

I'm gonna have to check out this "Klean" stuff... Sounds like a really good product.

Amazing job and documentary!

Everything down to the trim was given a ton of attention. I think that's what really sets the real details away from the rest.

What did you use to bring the lighting back to life?

Great work and thanks for the insights on the trim dye etc.

Anthony-

Great detail and great write-up. I have an 86 944 Turbo with Guard's Red and similar black Fuchs wheels.

What did you use to get the wheels looking black again?

Max

Great work Anthony, and thanks for the detailed write up. The trim dye is particularly interesting and sounds to be well worth the price.

Jason

Anthony, simple awesome. That red came out great.

where do you get Hi Temps from?

In addition to topoftheline.com, there may be a local distributor in your area that sells Hi Temp.

Hey Max...thanks for the compliments:)

Our very own 6']['9 (Jason) helped me out with the wheels. I had him clean them first with Cleansing Lotion (Pinnacle) and then sprayed them down with Sprayway's Instant Shine. I gave it one coat then went and did other things to the car and after ahile I sprayed them again. One of the last things I do is to buff out the wheels and it leaves a great sheen. The look will last anywhere from 2 weeks on up to 5 weeks depending on driving and washing habits.

Sullybob,

The interior was in decent shape. One of the seat levers is broke, seats are worn in some areas, mainly side bolsters and some areas in the carpet that are getting bare.

I don't have any interior pics:( Thanks though for the kind words:xyxthumbs

Thanks again to all!

Awesome job as usual Anthony! Boy, I thought I was thorough!:D

Thanks AJ:)

I have another "project" car, an M5, that I am hoping comes out nice. Really scratched up and just all around grungy. It does have some wax stains on the front area so I am hoping to try out once again my trim cleaner/dye product.

I'll make sure to take pics and post them. I also have a REAL nasty X5 to do tomorrow........I have now worked about 20 or so days straight.....not one day off......anyone need a job?:D
