Hey Charles (I'll try to get back on task of the original thread question!).....

Yeah, I've been in DC withdrawl for over a week now, and it's not getting any better.

Thanks for the updates.

Any late-breaking news? :)

Thanks................................Bill..................

Heyyyyyyyyyy

You're right!

...It's bad isn't it?!

I'm lucky it's Oregon winter right now, otherwise I'd go nuts! (cold, constant rain - never ending drawn out for weeks of rain)

Its cool, I don't want people thinking that I am going around saying I'm better than anybody because of the clients I work on. Far from it, but if there was an online battle and over aggresive censorship going on, I would be a logical target for attack because I do use Zaino on high end cars and the PERCEPTION that goes with it.

Paint is paint and a car is a car, as far as I'm concerned..

Agreed, I'm not as familiar with this board or the circumstances, and I feel it will be kept that way if I follow the experiences of people like you. You are very right in your observations and judgement on that matter, it just makes sense. Yes, if you were to advertise, but if you're doing that on any board you shouldn't be there (UNLESS YOU OWN IT, hehe) had to put that in there, but I see nothing wrong with it.

The fact is, we're adults, it's not like anything is being shoved down anybody's throat.

I mean, it's the internet, it should be expected there are advertisements...

So yea, you're definitely right in your observations, thats the bottom line.

Anyways, slightly off-topic but speaking of cars being cars- I have been contacted by the local yaught club, they want me to detail some of their boats. I that that was kind of neat, haven't made any appointments yet, I believe I will wait until summer. What an adventure, let alone being one heck of a cool opportunity!

Complete BS . . . those threads are closed only when the participants get out of hand. We've never locked a thread about Zaino simply because it was about Zaino.

Tort

(moderator)

I agree tort didnt mean that way what I meant is people that TALK about zaino usually get out of control so it gets locked

Whoa! That is bad... Our KC winters aren't that bad!

But it did start early this year... Last weekend, ice storm... tomorrow, 6" of snow!

Man I hate this.........

When I retire, I'm going to tie my snow shovel on top of my car and start driving south.

When someone says "What's that?", then that's where I'm going to live.

I agree 100% with David F on AG's Forums. I mentioned a vac that Lowes carried at a good price and was "reminded" that AG sells vac's. So I try to push the limit over there every chance I get - nothing too radical, just whinning that since the sell 3M, they need to update and sell the new 3000 line. I - and this is just me, my lowly opinion so relax your splincters ok, I think that AG products -XMT, Wolfgang, etc are overpriced and underpowered, based on my own experience with them. I drank the koolaid and read with intense trust all the hype, and came away thinking wow - there's got to be better stuff - and there is. I have learned a lot from Autopia, I would never have know had I not found this site.
Out of curiosity, what didnt you like about the Wolfgang DGPS. I had a bottle sitting for over 7 months and then I tried it out and was like whoa!!!!! This stuff rocks!!!

why should anyone pay good money for a detailer who uses a product off the shelf at WalMart.

A few good reasons.

1. They don't want to do the work themselves.

2. Their main concern is the end result.

3. NXT 2.0 matches up well with any high end boutique LSP I've used.

Of course, but the other forums don't allow discussion of any products that are not forum sponsored. Here's we can talk about ANY product, as long as their's not ulterior motives. Other forums delete your posts if you're not conforming to their suggested products. I haven't seen it here.

Maybe I haven't noticed, but who's gotten banned here for discussing Zaino? Their whole product line is discussed constantly just as much as any other's here.

Not at all true. While it it true the majority of our topics are Zaino cebtered, we encourage discussion of other products and have not, to the best of my knowledge, deleted posts reagrding other products.

It's nice to see the concern of the "other sites" loyalists... I have no idea when the "other site" will be up and running... I'm sure Brad and Bret are dilegently working on getting teh website back up and running. Hang tight...

Thanks again... devilsadvocate aka dternst

Remember... it's not always about the product or products you use... give yourself some credit. Peace and Happy Holidays.

Well, If NXT 2.0 is good I'd suspect that #21 2.0 would be better. In business image is everything. If you use a bottle of NXT from WalMart you are saying to the customer you are a "walmart detail". Granted if you charge "walmart" prices that might be a fitting product. If you use a bottle with MEGS PRO on it you are giving the image that you are a PROFESSIONAL. The end result may or may not be any different but the perception in the mind of the customer may be very different. Or you could do this-use a product in an unlabeled bottle to "hide" your secrets from your customers. Politely tell your customers that you use only the best professional products available. Bush's Baked Beans doesn't protect the "secret family recipe" for the fun of it.

The vast majority of my customers never ask what I use nor do they watch me apply products. Most of my liquid waxes are in smaller containers so they don't take up as much space.

It is listed for all to see on my website that Meguiars is one of the product lines I use anyway.

Question from Willie,"Out of curiosity, what didnt you like about the Wolfgang DGPS. I had a bottle sitting for over 7 months and then I tried it out and was like whoa!!!!! This stuff rocks!!!"

I do a details on some friends' daily drivers, hers got WG sealant, his got DG 105, the cars are both used about the same. After 2 months, I did a mini-detail, wash/vac etc and the WG car had practically no beading, his car with 105 looked great and was beading like crazy. Now, check the prices, WG -30 bucks for 16oz, shizz, I could almost get Jetseal for that. That and the rest of the WG line is over-hyped and over priced. I got a bottle of WG glaze that I'd give you if you came by - you and anybody else, I'm tired of seeing it in cabinet.

Oh really....?

How did you come up with that.....?

Products can be purchased anywhere, the work performed and the man doing the job is what the customer is paying for. A good pro can work magic with the proper equiptment.

Walmart sells a lot of products that will do the job just fine. Soaps, dressings, cleaners, micro fiber towels, buckets, lights, extention cords etc.....

I don't agree with the "Wal-Mart Nxt detailer" theology. Most people don't care what you use and even if they walked up and grabbed a tin of NXT out of your supply area, most would have no clue what it was or where its sold. Perception lies in other areas, for example, do I show up to the job on time, do I pull up in a beat up 1981 corolla rusted to the core to detail there car, Am I well dressed and presentable, have I brushed my teeth today or do I have sewer breath, do I converse with the client and spend time with them to see what there concerns are, am I cranking AC/DC "hwy way to hell" while I wash the car. Thats where perception lies to me, the products you use is really a secondary issue. Any detailer worth a nickel could look like a hero with products from Wal-Mart

It's been a while since I detailed for money, but when I did no one ever asked me what brand of products I used. Besides, Meguiar's is probably the most widely known and respected name in car care chemicals. Names like Zaino, Zymol, Swissvax, Pinnacle, etc. which are highly respected around here are virtually unknown to the general public.
