Not happy with the end result.

The guy just wanted the regular wash and vacuum out.
It had been years since it had been washed. He sales vegtables out of it ,and at all the stains.

Oh it looked better ,but still looked like junk(in my opnion)
He really thought it looked great.
Have to go back thursday and clean the leather seats. What I had wasnot strong enough, and also ran out of daylight.

Ya'll ever do a detail that you were not happy with ?:banghead:

There are plenty of cars that I do that *I* am not happy with because the customer isn't willing to be without the car long enough for me to really get it back into shape. Because of this, I really undercharge, I have a problem asking for $xxx amount of money when I can see things that are wrong with it, even if the customer never notices/doesn't really care.

With that said, I don't think I've *ever* had an unhappy customer.

Yeah, some cars I feel better about than others. Especially when the owner needs the car back a certain time.

One of my customers expected a full detail to be done in eight hours. For this truck in paticular, I was thinking more like two days.

Here's the one I'm not happy with: (I hear this from SUV soccer moms all the time:

"Just do the interior. I don't care anything about the outside... don't even wash it!"

How do you turn over a dirty car to a customer after a detail????!!!!!:scared::out:

Just do the inside?Oh the look on yore face:tongue:

Probably the look I had on my face when I went to clean on the leather, and ,and nothing.
I mean some grime came off,but Dannngggggggggg.
Don't make me break out the tire cleaner!!Stop

I detailed my friends truck today and had to let it go only 60% done. He dropped it off two hours late, so because of this I couldn't do a full correction on the paint and was only able to do a tiny bit of the interior.
This vehicle was/is in pretty bad condition. When it arrived it was so filthy that I had to foam it down with a citrus wash. Once the majority of the dirt was gone I did gave it an ONR bath. After that I gave the engine a small detail and protected it with 303. I did the wheels last in wash process. His Envoy has nice 5 spoke chrome factory wheels, but for some reason they had huge lumps in the metal and the clear or whatever film is on the wheels, is starting to peel. I wish that I had my camera so I could so everyone.

The inside was and still is bad. The center console armrest had a layer or caked on sweat that was pretty nasty to even look at. I sprayed some OPC 3:1 and let it dwell for a minute. Once it soaked into the gunk, I misted it again and wiped it off with no problem. Did this process for the entire dash, gear shift and doors. Protected everything with 303.
By the time that I was done with this whole process it was almost dark. I only had enough time to buff out a nasty pterodactyl ethcing that ran from the rear of the hood to the front. FWIW, the hood cleaned up real nicely with a 105/white lcc combo, using the Flex.

It was a lot of work and busting my hump to do what I could with the time given, but seeing the look on his face when he picked it was worth it. It also gave me a chance to see how my work is, because until the only vehicles that I've worked on are light colored.
BTW, Chevy black paint looks incredible once it's defect free. I could see an awesome reflection of my house and the moon from the hood. :)

I apologize to OP for derailing this thread. Once I got started, I couldn't stop. My apologies.

I just can't understand how people can drive or ride in a disgustingly nasty vehicle.
With me .I DON'T.I'll either take mine or I don't go:chillpill:

I'll be back thursday finishing up the leather seats, though the drivers seat is completly trashed.I will take three different cleaners at three different strengths:banghead:

Seems like some people had problems with there Mother. Always want to please Mother. Don't want to get Mother mad.
So when you go out there in the real world, please leave Mother at home.

I really hate just doing a simple wash and wax.

I have to at least clay the vechile so the wax can bond to the paint better. :)

Nah, I don't see it that way at all. I mean, I'd rather have someone with such an eagerness to please and a guilt trip about the need to do a great job detailing my car than someone without.

Any detailer worth his or her salt is going to stress out at least a bit about turning over a job that is doesn't look finished the way it should have been. However, the fact remains that some customers either don't want some of the services that you know would make their car look great or they can't afford some of those services.

It sounds as if Nibbler gave him what he paid for and is just wishing that the guy would have had the means or the inclination to see the job through as it should have been. I would feel the same!

He didn't want me to do the seats at first.I told him it would help in the long run ,and they would look much better than they do now.(Which looks like crap!!!!!!)

Oh I wanted to clay it so baddddddddd. There were to many dents and places where the paint was gonnnnneeeeeee from abuse.though how much it would have actually helped ,who knows.

I did his wifes car last week ,which was a black altima.Which needed claying ,and also I mentioned the leather seats needed clening ,but he said don't worry bout it:toetap05: They were bad.

Anyway I will finish him up thursday evening and probably won't see him again for a year or two,Though his daughter in law wants me to do her suv, purty quick.

Thanks guys,I just needed to vent a little.I feel much better now:D

Oh the problems out there, I have solved that problem, at least in my area.
Since I am very picky on what vehicle I detail , its very simple in my case, i tell them how long its going to take and how much, and if they want it faster, it will cost them more. If they want a half a*s job, i point them to the car wash about 1 mile away.
I know one thing, when I do or complete a job, I want to look at it and say, "I did That and I'm proud of it."
