Detail Picture Theft

I had a guy in france use my whole F430 spread as his own...needless to say, Todd found it and informed me. He ripped off a bunch of other stuff from other detailers as well...

and then there is a guy in Canada right now using my info from my services page word for word...Thanks JPostal for catching that one!

pure laziness!!!!

I looked back through the old threads but it's gone - there was a kid in Toronto that essentially ripped my entire website word for word....even the part about my Dad working with me and passing away. He had the balls to post the site here looking for compliments. It was actually pretty funny

The funny thing is the guy didn't even substitute "Envious" detailing with his own company name. Lazy, lazy, lazy. If they cant even come up with content for their websites you have to wonder what kind of quality they are putting out and what corners they are cutting.

Same jerk who had a url very similar to mine also stole pictures from Joe (Superior Shine) including a picture of Joe and his van with Joe's business name clearly visible. :wall

You have to laugh at the stupidity of that kind of thing

So I heard back from Envy....It does appear that his website has been updated to remove any of the stolen pictures. Which IMO means he knows which pics were stolen.

"hello, im sorry if there was missused photos on our site. You could have just messaged us. I am the new owner as of Feb 1, 2012 and yes there is alot i didnt know about this company until after the purchase. if you just let me know i will be glad to make things right. as of right now we have gone through invoices and the two videos up are ones that have been done. please just message us for anything else. we are working hard to turn this company around"

Hmm.... not sure I'd be buying that story.

I was thinking the same when this came up.

Hi, This is Phil from Envy Mobile Detailing. I am the manager there and we just recently acquired the business and have spoken to Mr Greg of Signature Detail and he was kind to inform us of some pics of other detailer being used. We sincerely apologize to Signature Detailing, Esoteric Detailing, Dj Mayo Studios, and autogeek. This is unacceptable and we took action right away to correct this mishap. Please let us know who was banned so we can unban them. All work on the website, facebook, and youtube is of Envy Mobile Detailing. Again we apologize to all detailers and have nothing but respect for all the hard working detailers out there. Take pride in your work and protect it. You all have a skill that's rare and should be proud of all your work!

I am glad to see there is a stand-up guy now in charge there.

Welcome to Autopia! Sorry you had to visit us on such a harsh instance. Glad you came forward to publically apologize for this misdoing as it is 100% unprofessional what went down.

I agree with David that the circumstances of your initiation here were unfortunate. I am continually impressed, as well, by David's poise and diplomacy in his posts dealing with morally questionable actions of others.

Phil, I appreciate the apology. It does show you are really trying.

My reason for bringing this back up is a thought I had today while listening to a book on tape about selling/persuasion during my detail. (Not the most motivating, but great opportunity to multi-task.) Don't recall what it was that made me think of this thread at the time, but thought occured to me that the stolen photos might have been intended to make the business more appealing to potential buyers rather than to potential customers. I was kind of wondering when the stolen photos first showed up.

I am glad to see that Phil is being given the benefit of the doubt. Based upon other threads in the past year this could have gone very differently. I hope Phil continues to turn things around and becomes a regular poster here. I'm sure he will have some great insight on what NOT to do in a detailing business.
