Words can't describe the anger I feel right now. I told them this morning what happened last time and SAID I DO NOT WANT THE CAR WASHED!!!! He wrote it on the work order. I just picked the car up and it was washed and the tires are glowing in silicone tire oil. Everyone had gone home so I took my anger out on the secretary (last one left) and I think she almost cried. I felt bad, but this is no excuse, and there is pretty much nothing I can do. To hell with the NJ drought, I am washing it right now with Z7 to inspect for swirls, and I need to calm down and cool off......DAMN!

Oh man, I know how u feel DK. They washed the ML and swirled it up. They wouldn't gimme jack for it, they offered to buff out the swirls but I totally refused and asked for the money it cost to buff the car. They refused and I told them I would never recommend their dealer nor come back again. On my way out I spit on the owner's car, shhh!:)

I'd be very mad myself, and I'd go back the next day and have some words with the service manager and not an innocent bystander. After all, people come before cars...at least in my book. :)

I totally feel you DK. Had that happened to me many times. Learned my lessons already. Do not rely on dealer to write it in the work order. Post signs in the car, AND tell dealer to put down "No Car Wash"... Double protection.

I took one of my car in the family to Lexus dealer 2 weeks ago. I felt too lazy to post signs, so I asked the service advisor to write down No Carwash on the paperwork. They washed it anyway and I wasn't surprised. It wasn't even clean. There were water spots on paint and window, wheels were still dirty, and some strips of towels were stuck on the windshield wiper. The car is white so I wasn't too concern about swirls, and just took the car home and washed it AGAIN then put a nice coat of SG on.

Today I took another car to Porsche dealer. Again, I was lazy to post signs, so I asked the service manager to use a RED HIGHLIGHTER and wrote in JUMBO SIZE "NO CAR WASH" across the WHOLE workorder... That BETTER get their attention; otherwise, I'll be as angry as you are now!

hey, i have something that might help. I have these markers that i can write on the windows and it comes off with a damp rag. Colors come in green, yellow, red & blue. This would get the dealers attention.

I use it when i get busy with the details. i just write on the window what needs to be done on the car. when i am done. i wipe it right off.

NYDetailer has the right idea about the crayon sticks. They use these at the local tunnel car wash chain here in Rochester and Buffalo, because of the various wash options.

I feel bad for all those who have the hard work distroyed in a mater of seconds by the dealer or service agency. The last time I had my car in for service, I was given a coupon for the car wash down the street from the dealer. I gave the coupon away.

Eric

How about specifics on those colored crayons? I'd love to get some for my own use. Details please! Thanks.

Sorry to hear this :(

It happened to me recently as well. The service manager offered to give me a full detail, but I could not help but ask "If you don't know how to properly wash a car, how can I trust you to use a high speed buffer?"

His response was that they had different people washing cars, than the ones who do the actual detailing. Didn't reasure me at all.

I can't help but wonder, if sending instructions on how to properly wash a car, to local dealerships would help this common problem :(

I don't even let them do the courtesy window cleaning and vacuuming at the Lube Goon's place I go to.

Of course, they don't mind, less work for them-but they also see the sign on the back window for my detailing business and they bombard me about waxes and other cleaning products--or when they look under the hood and see all the modifications I have made, they ask about that. Just once, I would like to go in an sit down in the waiting room without answering any questions--but since practically everyone is a potential customer....
