D151 Paint Reconditioning Cream vs. OPT Poli Seal

I just got some poli seal to replace some of my older Meg's products as I was sick of how hard they were to use and the sub par results I was getting, so far im really impressed. I read recently about this new 151 and how good it was, can anyone offer a direct comparison between 151 and poli seal? I plan on finishing with an lsp anyway so protection isnt my highest priority, im more interested in ease of use, corection/cleaning ability, and final finish.



also does 151 stain trim?
 
I'm not sure if 151 stains trim or not, as I've always masked off the trim when I'm using 151.



I can not get 151 to finish down well with a rotary. It does finish down very nicely with a DA, though. Meg's says it has more bite to it than M205, so it's pretty aggressive for an AIO. I haven't used Poli-Seal, so I can't compare the two.



Meg's says the LSP in 151 has both wax and sealant in it, so you should be good to go with whatever LSP you want to top it with.
 
#151 is more aggressive than Poli-Seal, however it will not finish out hologram free via rotary while Poli-Seal will. Both leave a really nice wet finish when used as directed.
 
D151 won't finish hologram free via rotary?! thats the whole point of the product, use one product to replace a cleaner/polish and wax!

I haven't had any problems with D151 leaving holograms when I use it via rotary.

Never had any issues when I have used it.

which is easier to use/work with
 
having used both, and both are in my arsenal currently:



-both are stupid easy to use

-both finish down pretty wet via PC

-151 has more cut to it

-151 takes a little more to work in, where poliseal requires less passes (time constraint details get poliseal from the start)

-poliseal requires wiping the residue before moving on to the next panel, 151 you can do a few sections before wiping

-151 is more thick product

-poliseal will leave a slicker finish
 
I plan on using the D151 via a 5.5" white pad on a PC on my nighthawk black honda. I didn't know it was so aggressive. Does anyone think doing this regimen every 6 months or so for swirl removal will take away too much clear?
 
Just used some on one of my black DDs and couldn't be happier w/ the results. PC and LC white, finishing w/ LC black on horizontal panels on speed 6 and 5; vertical panels I dropped the speed to 3 and finished w/ the white. Four to six passes were used on most panels using a combo of 4 and and 5 1/2 inch pads.



Primed the pad w/ same then applied three pea sized drops and worked in. It has a long working time but w/ the new SMAT abrasives can be stopped at any time. Didn't dust much and was easy to remove. I can't comment on the staining, as by habit I dress plastic pieces before I polish and take pain not to to touch those areas. I had some RIDS that I took care of using UC by hand, moved on to D151 and am pleased w/ the results. Prolly did a 80% to 90% correction which is fine by me as I don't own show cars.



It is said that D151 has the same cut of somewhere around that of 80/83 but I have no experience w/ those polishes. It did remove minor swirling easily. I wonder how this product would work w/ a more aggressive pad, such as a foamed wool pad. Perhaps I'll find out when I do my next vehicle w/ primarily the Flex and secondarily w/ the PC.





What is appealing to me is the fact that D151 is a one stepper and on my rather cream puff DDs this is the ticket to keep them looking their best w/ minimal effort. At the end of the day I usually don't care to finish w/ a LSP as I'm tired of the whole thing. With this product I can wait for a few more washes the apply my fave LSP. I've read that 151 uses a combo of poly/canuba so I'm interested in how my fave poly will bond when I apply after the next wash.

Can't comment on this but I may use it in an added 6 month cycle of cleaning up the paint w/ a black pad to see how it works. As I keep my cars 10+ years I'm also concerned about removing too much clear.

Thanks for the reply. I am in it for the long run with this car, too. Anyone else have some input on this?
