Consumer Reports tested scratch removers.

Interesting article. Seems most of the products they tested removed swirls, but Quixx took care of a scratch you could feel with your fingernail.

Anyone ever tried Quixx?

Wait, there are still smart people in modern times who believe in CR?

I guess we all figure out at some point that CR is just CRap - this is your time :)

From the people that rated a wax #2 or 3 (can't remember what product) while giving a warning saying that it could scratch your paint

I have heard some decent reviews on it. I personaly would not try it, I watched a video once and it looked pretty scary.

I don't use CR but it maybe geared for the average user and produts that are OTC. Not everyone has the time to put in research and learn technique but at least they are trying! :)

How do consumer report decide which product to test? I wonder if they are paid to review certain products. If they are can we really trust their analysis?

Hold the presses! I just saw Billy Mays advertise a new product that makes scratches disappear, must be true - I saw it on TV...

Billy Mays ?? Isn't that the Guy that hollers at you through out the whole informmercial ?

Why would he be shouting if he wasn't sure it would work?

He must know something.

(sigh) .... If I could just get a dial tone...

sspeer's comment about the blindfold made me think about an old Richard Pryer bit where he was a TV preacher and this guy comes up and wants him to make his "wife" beautiful - Richard slaps a bag over her head!

People can say what they will about CR, but they do NOT get paid to endorse anything. They dont even have any ads in their magazine.

CR doesn't really get "paid" per se, but for certain categories, they are politically charged. Obviously not the case in car care, but as far as car care, just just don't know anything - just flat out ignorance, not so much "getting paid" ;)

I never trust anything Consumer reports says.

They have no clue what to even test on scratch removers anyway. The ones that worked the best had the most fillers in them.... Go figure... But are rated the best.

But then again...it is for consumers and not pros:laugh:

How many "real" detailers work at CR?

:LOLOL

None...

Honestly I think if anyone who knew anything about detailing worked there they would have picked scratchx as the best. But perhaps the reason they like the quixx is it's fillers make it easy to make it look like you are getting rid of serious scratches.
