Are you a member at AGO? I guess it was last summer when the scuttlebutt was that the forum was going to shut down, one of the members there started up his own forum and expected that everyone would flock to it, and...no one did, so he shut his down.

I think the problem with starting a new forum and getting people to come over, is there are a lot of people that come here very infrequently, and would miss the entreaties to join a new forum, would stop in here and say "wow this place is even more dead than it used to be" and leave, without realizing that people had gone to another forum.

I also find it interesting that although a lot of us are members of both Autopia and AGO, there are also plenty of others that just belong to one or another. There is also some overlap and some not with Mike Phillips' forum, which is generally has even less traffic than this one. AGO is quite a bit busier than Autopia.

I am, I'm yakky over there (as I was here before I twisted the old leaderships arm to give me the Dan account...lol).

And yeah, agreed on the division, dividing. I really love forums, facebook really sucks. It pulls in the fools like flies to poop. And the way FB works is it put the stupidest posts on top of your feed, its absolute garbage. Reddit is not much better.
 
Funny, just in the last few days you posted something over there that made me wonder if yakky was you.

I think it's possible that you/we could get a new forum off the ground. When I say "we", I just mean that collectively it would seem that it could be publicized enough. Although when Dana Point Detailing tried that last year, he seemingly was met with about zero interest.

Its all possible but futile until the end, if anything we should share ways to contact each other for when the inevitable happens.

I was poking around some old threads, just in case you thought the crazy posts were a social media thing... we had crazy rumors before social media was prevalent!

Thread 'gas shortage? any truth to it?'

this goes out to many of those who live in s. florida. girlfriends grandmother mentioned to me that i should gas up early because theres gonna be 3 daays without gas. so instead of just listenign i tried looking for proof, but found nothing. any truth to it?

i mean i dont doubt that gas might become significantly more expensive due to the refineries being shut down because of katrina but "there not being any gas available for 3 days"????

I could argue it would be better to do it before "the end".
Alternatively, PBMG must have a sales/marketing manager, perhaps someone with more time and more people skills than me could get them on the phone and convince them that it's worth their time to have an employee promoting PBMG/Sonax products on the forum (and approving new members)...unless of course it's not.
