Hey said:
I get to drive my friend's Cayman S, since I detail it. It is indeed one fine car. Driving it up to my daughter's college dorm was priceless.
However, it is substantially more expensive than the $35K 128 I have ordered. I was interested in something fun to drive, but I am at the upper end of my "budget."
Deanski--Since I have your attention, I do recall that you were into a product search for the leather on your 997. I think you chose a Sonus product, IIRC.
Any recommendations for BMW Boston leather?
Thanks!
Yes, I went with Sonus. So far so good. Does what it says it will and makes my leather feel the same it was when I took delivery. Not any type of oil or slipperyness at all, in fact, the opposite which works well since I have the A.S.S. (Adaptive Sport Seats) which are really great seats with soooo many adjustments. Only which they came in carbon fiber backed like the new GT2 seats!
The other product line I'm looking at is Leather Master line as it comes from people who work and deal with leather for the most part. I'll have to play with it, but everyone I know who's used it, really likes to speak highly of it.
Remember, you don't need much to clean leather well. Woolite/water mix works very well as most cleaners are nothing more than a Woolite type soap mixed with water, coloring, fragrence etc.
Sometimes you end up trying products, but for interiors, you have to really on the money as trying something and finding it damaged the leather it can be more costly than painting a panel.
Stay away from products mostly used in tack rooms and old English leathers. One mfg who did well in tack equipment maintenance now has several products in the automotive leather treatment line.
Glad to hear your getting the car you really want.
Post pics wheneer you can.

Deanski
