Collinite waxes

I'm going to put myself in the minority (or is it singularity? LOL) of not really caring for these waxes. I tried the MdE and found it to be "meh".

But, I'm not a #16 lover, either. FWIW, I think #16 is a better product.

All of us have different preferences, so nothing wrong with your judgement. #16 has a better look than 476S, and being the MdE very similar to 476S your comment makes sense. However, you gotta try the IW (845) which I think looks better than the others mentioned, much easier application and almost as tough as its siblings..... Then, we can accept you back in the island :D

I can buy 885 for $10 a can all day long and that makes it a heckuva deal over 476s. Actually, of the three products, my personal favorite is 845 IW as it goes on and off super easy. And it looks great. Plus, I can get it for $9 a bottle. I'll like to give Collinite #870 a try soon as it's got cleaners in it - would probably make it a great one-step product. Hard to beat Collinite for good value.

Where do you get them?

From everyone's favorite auction place, of course - eBay! The same seller who sells the 845 for $9, also sells the 885 for $10. I've purchased from them before and they're very easy to deal with. Just do a search for "collinite" there and you'll find it.

Thanks. I'll try flea-bay

Wow, this thread has a lot of talk! I thought this one had died down a couple of weeks ago.

My two cents: If you dont have Collinite 845IW then get it!! :end of my two cents.

Edit: I meant to say 845IW not 855...got cofused after reading all the posts. Go buy 845IW! :up

I'd wait 12-24 hours to be safe-from what i've read it has some type of resins in it

Yeah I think 845 is more of a sealant than a wax. I always wait at least a day to apply a second coat of any LSP.

Yep, works great, managed to cover hood and two fenders with a single circular drizzle. Allow it to haze, then wipe it off, easy as pie :)

I was always led to believe that IW was almost strictly for LIGHT colored vehicles or something to be used for winter prep because of durability at the cost of asthetics....Not so.

I used it on my buddy's dad's dark metallic purple Chrysler 300M ---which I've been struggling with to find a suitable LSP --- mostly with the aim of durability and topping with something else for looks. However , after applying the 845 , I was very pleasantly surprised with the look and decided to let it stand as the LSP.

Since then , I've been stocking up on it locally OTC in preparation for the VOC changes--- $9 a bottle... a bargain in my book.

Frank's Auto Supermarket.

Autozone also has it , but it's around $11.

I got mine at Autozone, and considering the small amount needed to completely coat a car, that's still not a bad price. I use less Collinite than I did Zaino.

Never seen it at Autozone. I have seen it at Carquest and Advance Auto.
