Collinite waxes

Never had a staining problem either with both 476 and IW. That's why I like them so much particularly the IW.

The staining I had was minimal but the 476s did stain the black splash guards on my Accord. The splash guards had a pebbled, textured finish & they picked-up a bit of 476s when I got careless.

Other trim, like the sunroof gasket and the trim around the windshield did not stain, in fact they shine as much as the paint.

Gotta be the textured finish of the splash guards.

Our winters are nothing compared to yours. I simply want to continue trying products highly praised and talked about on this site

Compared to the crap that is sold here, your stuff is gold

Only AUTOSMART, Magnum Top Gear and Omikron make products that are autopian standard. Only entry level but still quality

I'm getting ready for VOC regulations to hit here and the gold coast is where I'm betting it will strike first

When it does, I will have been selling environmentally safe products, most being VOC free or VOC compliant for quite some time.

My motto - never stop experimenting with different products

Otherwise you'll get stuck in a rut like alot of the detailers down here

Looks-wise, I dunno. On *some* paints the Collinite waxes look great, but on others the #16 looks a lot better. I don't consider Collinite a "beauty wax".

I would kind of agree for the 476S, but not for the 845. While I like the special flake the 476S gives, the 845 is noticeably shinier and glossier! 476 is a protection wax with good looks, the 845 is a tough beauty wax in my eyes.

Alex

i topped 845 with S100 and saw no improvement in depth or sharpness-845 really is a quality old school wax however side by side NXT was a bit deeper and sharper

NYV6Coupe- Maybe it's the different materials. The mirror housings on the Volvo were pebble grained :nixweiss People oughta be careful about this until they know how their stuff is gonna respond.

AlexRuiz- OK, I'll keep your post in mind when I discuss the differences between the two waxes.

wannafbody- I did a "spit-shine" topping of 476S with Souveran and it did improve the look a little bit, enough that you could tell I did *something*. Maybe there's different synergy between Collinite and certain other waxes :nixweiss

Accumulator--

How about initially putting the Souveran first, below the 476S so that your initial wax gives the strong depth and reflectivity of souveran with the proection of 476S on top? Do you think this would be better than Vice Versa?

I will be trying it that way with #26 and IW since I don't have souveran currently.

BTW guys, Which is more sharply reflective and shinier between 845 IW & 476S?????

I'll take Spilchy's word for it on the 476S vs. 845.

I'd put the Collinite on the paint so you'd get (IMO) better durability. I read somewhere that the 845 has some good synthetic/resin/somesuch components and so I suspect it might bond to the paint better than most "waxes". Then put the (shorter-lived) Souveran/#26 on top of the Collinite and refresh as needed.

I'd also wonder about the solvents in 845 messing with the #26.

Agreed.

Top your Collinite as needed. I top with a carnauba like Blitz or #16 for looks and durability.

Since I now have one car that sits outside 24x7, I can't justify topping with Souveran or P21s given the durability:cost ratio.

Once I get a new car and a garage space back (living with my folks while new job hunting - yipee!) I'll go back to topping with them.

Thanks Accumulator and Spilchy for the great advice.

I'll stick with IW topped with my #26 paste. Once i detail my ccar fully i'll put up pics.

I just put IW on my black TSX last weekend (by hand) over a layer of Klasse AIO. Once I wash the dust off this weekend, I will apply a second coat if IW and take some pics for the post. Bear in mind, I live in Arizona, so durability is ALMOST more important than appearance....

This is my first car, and my first LSP, so I don't really have anything to compare it to. I guess I will say "deep and reflective". I apply by hand (no PC)over the AIO, so I probably don't get as good results as someone with a PC, but I will try to get a pic or two up soon, if the darn wind would stop depositing 30 pounds of dust on my car every hour....

try the #26 over the 845 on 1 panel before doing the whole car-you will mute the 845 gloss with 26 but might sharpen the reflections and add depth-ultimately it depends on what you prefer lookwise

I am a newbie to this forum, so hello everyone!

Coming from London, England, I have an Avus silver TT coupe on the way and I've been looking at Colinite 476s, but am now thinking about the insulator wax also.

Can anyone advise?

I'm looking to give depth of color and a wet look shine to my car that will last 6-12 months.

I intend to clay bar etc etc, then use a sealant before a wax top.

The 'Klasse' AIO is the 'in' thing at the moment but I'm not so sure about it as a sealant especially in terms of durability.

I'm looking at Poorboys and I am also interested in the Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant. Anyone got any advice/experience/views about these or any other potential sealant please?

Given the color of my car and what I'm looking to achieve, do you guys reckon the Colinite will suit?

Any advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome aboard Cam,

I'm probably going to be in the minority with this opinion but I much prefer Autoglym Super Resin Polish to Klasse AIO. Autoglym also have an excellent sealant in Extra Gloss Protection.

Collinite 476s works great as a topper to Autoglym as does S100/P21S, Megs #16 etc.

The Autoglym twins topped with Collinite is also an excellent choice for superior durability similar to AIO & SG.

mystickid - follow the advice of wannafbody and do one panel of #26 and see how it looks. I don't use #26.

In conclusion, I prefer IW to 476 for looks and ease of use. Both are very durable. As far as topping IW, my current favorite is Blitz; the most durable with the BEST looks carnauba out there (in my opinion :o )

Don't forget to use either Collinite product on your wheels. If you do, just use car wash soap and water to clean them up in the future. Apply once a month and you'll be set. It BLOWS away any dedicated, so called wheel polish.
