I have a smaple of 845 I need to try out, but wondering...

Everyone seems to say they are sealant-like in their durability...a few ?'s

1. Do they offer better, worse, or equal looks say compared to EXP, UPP, or Wolfgang?

2. How is their durability against the above selants?

3. Lastly, tell me about #915, 476s, and 73 Sapphire in term sof looks and durability.

Thanks, thinking of going to one of these this winter instead or on top of a sealant.

Can't say much about 476s, but I do use 845 a lot. Better durability than EX-P for sure, so far I'm at 3.5 months with 845 on an ungaraged daily driver washed once a week. Look is very wet, moderately deep, and reflective. Seems to make metallics pop very well(not quite up to EX-P in this regard, though), but very good for a wax. Should be more than adaquate winter protection, IMO.

Look around and use the search.

The 845 is the most popular Collinite product. It creates a great, deep, shine, and gives around 4-5 months protection ungaraged.

The 476 is the most durable Collinite product. It is the paste version of the 845. It doesn't shine as much, but it's still nice. It gives around 5-7 months of protection. It claims to be "detergent proof", people have confirmed that by attempting to wash it off with Dawn. Only polishes and time will remove the wax.

The 885 Fleetwax is EXACTLY the same as 476S, except it is in a 12 ounce container as opposed to the 9 ounce 476. Exactly same properties.

The other waxes aren't as popular and don't last as long as the 845 or 476. The people at Collinite strongly recommend 845 and 476. In winter, they recommend 476 because of its long-lasting properties.

Both the 845 and 476 are pure waxes, no cleaners. They also have a high percentage of carnauba wax, the 476 having even more than the 845.

Many people like to use 476/845 as a final topper after using polishes, waxes, sealants. It combines good looks with bulletproof protection.

Good luck!

From what I hear the 915 is the same as 476s, but with more added fragrance. 845 should work well over RMG, and it doesn't seem to care to much about what it is used over(not much decrease in durability).

scooterguitar, the Collinite customer representatives are very truthful, and have told many members on this board that the 915 is just a overrated wax that the "dummies" buy. As I said, everybody considers the Collinite reps to be extremely honest, and very frank when explaning their products :) I'd stick with either the 845 or 476. Here are two links with extensive info about 476 vs. 915.

drew.haynes, the 845 should work fine over RMG. I haven't done it myself, but 845 over glazes definitely isn't a problem.

Hope that helps.

LOL, I dunno, scooterguitar. Do you like the coconut smell of the 915? :) Also, the smell of the 476 isn't anything too great, BTW. It smells a bit strong of chemicals or something, but I don't mind it at all. I mean, seriously, why would anyone sacrifice fantastic wax for the smell :doh

drew.haynes, I ordered the collinite online. It may be sold at Advance Auto, some NAPA stores, and CarQuest. In these stores, you may not be able to get 476, but the 845 should be there. If you don't have any of the stores near you, then you will have to get it online. I ordered from www.mactecllc.com . They have the best price ($14.50 shipped). You will not be able to find a better price.

BTW, found a few pictures of the water beading of the Collinite. Pretty amazing. (Not my pictures, BTW. I will post some pictures soon.)

1. Worse than UPP and Wolfie, about equal to EXP

2. Better than all three

I guess I am just a "dummy" since I have used 915 professionally as a winter wax for around 15 years. Not sure what you have to pay for products but for a couple of bucks difference I probably just stick with what works for us.

3Dog, I was just giving my opinion and basing my comments on what others have said. Sorry if I insulted you, I truly had no intention of doing so. I'm just low on money, so I'm always looking for whatever gives the best value :) Like you have said, each person has their own favorite product, and after trying various products, it is up to them to pick the one that best fits their own situation. My apologies. :hifive:

Thansk for the help guys, good info Sherm, hmm have we talked before?

Mike was just helpiing out here, besides it was the comapany that made the general comments about 915 and peopel on here are just relaying it to help new users of it out.
